An Inspired Chat with Christopher Smith of Tucson

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Christopher Smith. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I am pretty busy with photographing properties in Tucson and surrounding areas. I also continuing to build my website presence with media e-drops to Real Estate folks around this area and beyond. Its a battle as I am competing against companies who want to put us freelancers out of business, but I for one have faith in my skills and experience.

When not doing this, I am working on two projects:
First project Wright Aviation Art – aviation art on canvas. I am proud to say Million Air in Tucson are giving me a wall to display and sell my aviation art.
Second project AZ-Drone – a separation of my drone skills into a business dedicated to drone activity such as Real Estate, Insurance, Construction and more…

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I came across the pond from the UK in 2012, married my soulmate and started my life in America in Sarasota. I have been a photographer for most of my life, starting a business in the UK in 1990. I started csfotoimages.com here in FL in 2012 and have stuck with this ever since. Moved to Tucson in 2018 and like to say my brand is Photography by Christopher at csfotoimages, based on a 5-star quality service for every client

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was a child I was painfully shy. I didn’t have the courage to get out there and be heard.. I never had confidence in myself and sadly lost many opportunities because of this lack of confidence.

After leaving school, I was no longer constrained to what my peers thought of me and told me I was worthless. I came to America at the age of 21 to learnt to fly and not only did I soar into the clouds in a plane, but so did my confidence. I returned to the UK and my career as a pilot faltered but my career as a photographer blossomed… You cannot be a shy photographer and with the American ethos being – “You can be anything you want to be”, I made a life as a Photographer. Since returning to the USA, I have grown with a strong sense of being driven to achieve… and here I am

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There has been some periods in my life I have thought about giving up, but pulled myself up by my bootstraps and got on with it. There has been some hard times, times of sadness and those have lead me once to consider ending it all, but a single phone call stopped me. I will always be grateful to that person and looking back I think coming close to death’s door made me become who I am today – A person who has a strong belief in his directions and a willingness to always move forward with my dreams and goals.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
My parents watching over me. I believe that my parents who passed away before I felt I was successful, look down on me and keep me safe. I think they found me my soulmate, my life as a whole and generally keep an eye on my wellbeing.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I don’t think I am that far off. I figure maybe 20 years. I think to answer a really simple question – worrying. I am always worrying about something.. just chill more..
