Brittany Wasstrom shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Brittany, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
When I saw this question- it stood out to me because my business has always been a way back to ME.
I have dedicated a lot of time over the past few years on my inner child and understanding her and why she self sabotaged, dimmed her light, struggled with using her voice, didn’t feel heard or seen and through that journey- I keep finding out more about myself!
The beautiful thing is that this journey of coming back to my true authentic self has been through having my business.
It has allowed me to open up more, feel more empowered, confident, shed light on who I am and what I have to offer. It has allowed me to grow past what I thought was possible, reach heights that I never saw before, it has allowed me to crack open my shell and be more visible!
It has brought me closer and closer to ME. That is what I am proud of, is building a brand that is not only healing others, but healing me in the process.
Every time I begin a new project, I treat it like opening a quiet door within myself, stepping into a space I haven’t yet explored. I start with curiosity, not pressure, allowing my intentions—not expectations—to guide the first steps.
As I move forward, the project becomes a mirror, reflecting both my strengths and the parts of me still asking to be understood. There are moments of resistance, but they teach me patience; moments of doubt, but they offer me compassion.
And by the time I reach the end, the completion is less about the outcome and more about the transformation. I always walk away having learned something new about who I am—and in that awareness, a little more of me is healed.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Brittany, Owner of Intuitive Home an Interior Decorating company located in Kelowna, BC.
I’ve always had an infinite passion for creating new! I love working with colors, textures and different modalities that can help aid in our growth within our environments. I find that there is a disconnect between our environments and self these days. In such a fast paced society world, it’s hard to feel like you are doing all that you want to set out to do. It’s harder to be present, decompress and pull back from the abundant amount of stimuli that we are being faced with.
I am here to re connect these dots and bring you back HOME. I also incorporate a holistic living approach to my design process, offering mindful suggestions within our styling that create a healthier space!
Intuitive Home was built around the importance of what we surround ourselves with. Your home is not just a place- it’s a reflection of who you are, your energy, and your spirit. We specialize in creating personalized, harmonious spaces that resonate with your unique essence, combining design and intuition to nurture both your home and your well being.
We commit ourselves to helping you create a sanctuary that truly reflects your spirit. Let us guide you on a journey to a more mindful, beautiful and energetically aligned home.
We offer Interior decorating services that are local to our area as well as, Globally! Anywhere in the world- we can curate an E Design Booklet for you!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Little B was always very quiet, never talked, shrunk herself continually and always thought it was because she was told she was “shy” without even knowing what that meant. This trickled into me adulthood, up until I was the age of 27 I still had deep parts of me that believed this. This is when I dedicated years of Inner child work to unravel the layers.
Many people are labeled as “shy” not because they naturally are, but because they’ve been repeatedly told to be quiet, dim their light, or take up less space. Over time, these messages—often expressed during childhood—teach individuals that being expressive or bold is unsafe or unwelcome. What begins as a protective response to judgment or rejection becomes mistaken for a fixed personality trait. In truth, what’s often called “shyness” can be a response to being conditioned to shrink oneself, rather than a true reflection of who someone is.
I learned that I deserve to take up space and shine my light BRIGHT! To lean into my power and show the world what I have to offer. I learned to use my voice again, which led to creating boundaries where they were needed. It led to me learning who I was, what I wanted, creating my business and finding my authentic self again.
I believe that we are all on this plant for a reason and it’s up to us to share that! To take up that space and light! Share your light and express yourself fully!
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of success! I know it sounds bizarre, but its very true for a lot of people! Especially those who are entrepreneurs!
Having a business is not for the weak, you have to put yourself first every single day, you have to step out of your comfort zone every single day, you have to pursue your business in order to grow and expand to the degree of which you would like to.
You are the only one that holds yourself back! This is mostly because we don’t believe in the amount of potential we truly have! For me this was due to my belief system which is created from your childhood. It’s up to us to figure that out and rewire our belief system!
Fear of success can bring—more responsibility, higher expectations, visibility, or even jealousy from others. It can trigger deep-rooted beliefs like “I’m not worthy”. Worthiness for a lot of people is tied to Success unfortunately. If I am not working x amount of hours or “doing”, than ” I am not worthy of this success”. THATS FALSE!
I used to believe this up until 2 years ago. I finally let go of this belief and threw it out the window.
Once you can shed light on this topic, recognize how its holding you back and then let it fully go and surrender to what’s next, it is a huge weight off your shoulders. It’s freeing. Letting go of this belief allowed me to fully step into my authenticity and understand why I am here offering what I offer. The purpose behind it all!
I used to self sabotage all of the time, because I didn’t believe in the amount of potential I had. I was still shrinking myself and dimming my light.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
This would be more specific to Entrepreneurs I guess but, in general a few that I believe are lies would be…
1. That you have to work yourself to the bone till you are burnt out!
2. You have to go to school for years in order to get somewhere and be successful
3. You have to work “hard” to make good money.
Now some of these might get feedback, but I believe that everyone is deserving of abundance and there is never a lack of. It’s all a mindset and understanding.
I truly believe that you do not have to work yourself to the bone until you are burnt out in order to feel successful or to get somewhere in life. Again, rewire your belief system in order to receive more! We all radiate a frequency and vibration, just like a radio station. Tune into the frequency of what you want and align yourself!
I was always told growing up ” You need to get an education and a better job that pays good money”. And okay, to a degree-sure. But, I don’t always believe this to be true.
I originally moved to my city to take fashion school, I love everything about fashion but never pursued anything within that industry. I shifted into Interior decorating and here we are almost 5 years into having my own business! I never took professional schooling for it, though I did take a few styling courses, but mainly for fun! This has always been a natural talent of mine, I just took the leap and followed the nudge to pursue it.
It’s also possible to work LESS, and receive more!
For example, a few years back I started collaborating with an affiliate program for a furniture company. I was given a code for 10% off that I advertise and market on social platforms. One night, I said “I received $1000 from my link with…..”. The Next day I woke up to a commission email for $900.00. This has happened multiple times since then.
Connect the dots between your frequency and belief!
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
Honestly, in the quiet and stillness is when I feel most at peace.
I thrive in Stillness. It’s where I can think clearly, feel calm, connected and present.
I’ve learned this over the past 4-5 years. It comes from my childhood being the polar opposite. It was unpredictable with noise and motion at times. Which has led me to undo, rewire and relearn in order to move forward in a new light.
I’ve also realized that I have a slight sensory overload with noises and scents, so the stillness is where I feel less of this.
This is why creating environments for my clients that aid in their journey and help heal are so important to me. Creating a place of peace and understanding what that is for you.
