Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Nava.
Evelyn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, going to school, work and daily life events made me see that I wanted to blog my journey. I had two beautiful boys and also made me more of a bargainista. I wanted to show others how to be more cost-effective in buying things you love, hence the name mommyonabudget. On my Instagram, I show a lot of the struggles that I went through while going to school. I try and be as motivational as possible. I moved to Arizona, bought a home and now showing people my family on my YouTube channel. I want to empower women, and if I can save them money at the same time, then that’s a bonus!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Yes, going to school while having kids was one of the biggest struggles I had to surpass. Time management was one of my weak points that I was neglecting in putting towards my social media’s. I got so caught up in my actual daily life that I neglected to show all that. People love to see how someone struggle and how the made it! It empowers women to have the mindset of, “if she can do it so can I.” If I had to give advice to others, it would be to never doubt yourself! You are your own worst enemy, those negative thoughts in the back of your mind are just thought. The worst thing to do is live your life and have a regret of something you should have pursued.
Please tell us about your business.
I’m known for being a bargainer, I coupon, so I always showing deals, fun stuff I do with my family, and just everyday life. I believe what sets me apart is I really am an open book; I post pretty much anything because I know someone in this world could relate to my content
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I believe women are positioned to be in a leadership role. I believe we have a strong work ethic and have a voice that wants to be heard.
