Meet Kayla Newman of Hair By Kayla Newman in Central

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Newman.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been licensed to create for 9 years. I have also been a National Color Educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems for almost 3 years. My passion for art and expressing my creativity led me to become a hairdresser and later an educator. I have my own salon studio and love working behind the chair and educating other stylists.

Has it been a smooth road?
No! Of course not. The road to success is never easy. Building your clientele is one of the hardest things to do starting out. I’ve learned that furthering my education and studying constantly to better myself has definitely helped grow and cultivate my business and my brand. I’m always improving and am constantly striving to a better version of myself.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I do hair! I specialize in natural, and lived in color. I’ve also developed a passion for bridal hair. I believe what sets me apart is that I am always learning new techniques and staying up on trends to better myself and to provide better services for my guests. What I’m most proud of is that it’s all mine. I’ve created an oasis for myself and my guests to feel comfortable and at home in the salon. It’s a great environment for an intimate experience and a great place to help them learn how to style their own hair as well.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe you can build your career in whatever city you’re in. All it takes is passion, determination and discipline. Of course Phoenix is a great place to build your business- we’re the 5th largest city in the US. As long as you’re willing to work, your business will thrive! And if anyone is just starting out, I’m always here to answer any questions for those future professionals or young stylists!
