Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Munoz.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jamie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My name is Jamie Munoz, I am a pink-haired, tattooed, Phoenix native, entrepreneur and Disney lover! I also enjoy and happen to be pretty good at project management, organization, business coaching and assistance… the devil is in the details!
In November of 2017, I attended a Business Boutique event hosted by Christy Wright in Nashville. I was having breakfast one morning and had space at my table and there was a girl looking for a seat. I told her she could join me and we immediately started talking about our passions and what we do. She started a company that teaches you how to become a Virtual Assistant. It immediately peaked my interest. All the things she said she did virtually for clients, I had been doing at the company I worked for, for the past 6 years. She talked about the freedom of being a VA and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. When I returned home it seemed that all signs were pointing me in that direction – I believe everything happens for a reason! I started her VA boot camp in January and launched the company in February! VIRTUAL LUXE ATELIER IS BORN! Now let’s get some S#*T done!!
Starting VLA for me means that I can live my passion, open my boutique again (www.ladymuerta.com), which will eventually grow into a larger co-op space for small businesses that provides community and coaching.
It seems that everything I have been doing over the last few years was setting me up for success. I have been the Integrator (COO) for a local large format printing company for the last 2.5 years. I have been researching and learning all kinds of leadership, coaching and assistance skills during my time working for the azpro group. It has been a very supportive atmosphere for growth. Attending dozens of conferences, seminars and mastermind groups, and read tons of books over the years has enabled me to learn and grow personally and professionally. Meeting and being inspired by so many different experts and speakers on subjects related to business, leadership, growth and more has been so impactful. John Maxwell, Dave Ramsey, Christy Wright, Gino Wickman, Mark Winters and more! I get so excited and nervous when I meet them like I am meeting a celebrity! In February of this year, I became a certified Speaker, Coach and Trainer on the John Maxwell Team, which was very exciting for me!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road is never smooth… if it is then you went the wrong way, haha. It takes a lot of time and sacrifices to start and run a business. That is one of the things I help small businesses and startups understand and predict what is to come. Goal setting is my FAVORITE!! This year has been tough so far with some medical issues I have and our dog Bella passing. During times like those, it’s hard to put your smiley go-getter face on every day, but you gotta push through. My biggest struggle in my business is always wanting to be at 100% perfection. Well, I have had to learn that 90% is ok as long as you get moving and adjust along the way because 100% can slow you down or stop you all together. I give a lot of credit to my husband, who is a very positive force in my life and without him pushing me along every time I am scared, I would not be where I am today.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I get S#*t done. That has kind of been my slogan for as long as I can remember.
Virtual Luxe Atelier is a virtual/local AZ executive assistance and coaching company. My main areas of focus on the Assistance side are Administrative, Planning and Design based projects (there is a more detailed list on my website).
On the coaching side, I focus on helping busy executives and business owners with the organization, business planning, branding, training etc. I love helping a small business set up their businesses from everything to their logo and website to creating policies and procedures. A good friend of mine just started her company azlotusart.com and I got the opportunity to help her – what an amazing feeling to be a part of someone living their passion and being successful at it!
What sets me apart – I am very upfront and honest and I love to hold people accountable. I love to work with busy professionals that need help getting organized or taking tasks off their plate so they can be more effective. I am not afraid to set deadlines with you, follow up on them and call you out if your s#*t isn’t getting done. That’s what I am here for – to help in any way I can (except social media – that is definitely not my forte lol).
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, Phoenix has so many small businesses that can benefit from in-person and virtual assistance and coaching.
What’s great about being virtual is that you can work from anywhere. I do have several local clients and I love to be able to meet with them in person, but working virtually allows me to work from anywhere (including an island!) and with anyone!
