Hi Ruby, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started creating content in 2015 while working as a shoe buyer, a career I had from 2011 to 2021. What began as a creative outlet alongside my career eventually grew into a community and became my full-time focus.
I originally started in fashion and lifestyle, and as a curvy/plus-size creator, body positivity naturally became an important part of my platform. I wanted to show that confidence, style, and feeling sexy aren’t limited to one body type.
Over the years, my content has evolved with me and expanded into beauty, travel, relationships, wellness, and sex-positive content. I’ve used my platform to have open and honest conversations about dating, sexual wellness, and adult products in an educational and empowering way. I believe women should be able to embrace their bodies and sexuality without shame or judgment.
Since 2015, I’ve grown communities across multiple social platforms, hosted my own podcast, and partnered with brands across fashion, beauty, wellness, travel, technology, and lifestyle. I’ve also learned how to turn content creation into a business and continually adapt to an industry that is always changing.
Today, I continue to evolve my brand while staying rooted in authenticity, confidence, body positivity, sex positivity, and encouraging others to feel comfortable being themselves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been building a career on social media platforms that can change overnight. Algorithms, policies, censorship, account restrictions, and monetization changes can have a huge impact on a creator’s business, sometimes without much warning or explanation.
As a curvy/plus-size and sex-positive creator, I’ve also experienced my content being overly sexualized or treated differently, even when I’m creating the same types of fashion, lifestyle, or educational content as other creators. Learning how to advocate for myself while continuing to create authentically has been an ongoing challenge.
There’s also a lot that happens behind the scenes that people don’t see. Being a full-time creator means constantly adapting, negotiating brand partnerships, managing multiple platforms, creating and editing content, and dealing with the uncertainty of an income that can fluctuate from month to month.
But those challenges have also pushed me to diversify, become a better businesswoman, and build a brand that isn’t dependent on one platform or one type of content. After more than a decade in this industry, I’ve learned that being able to evolve and keep going is just as important as being creative.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a full-time content creator and influencer specializing in fashion, beauty, lifestyle, travel, body positivity, relationships, and sexual wellness. I started primarily in fashion, and as a curvy/plus-size creator, I became known for confidently representing bodies that weren’t always represented in traditional fashion and media.
Over time, my platform has grown with me. I’m also a sex-positive creator and have built a space where I can openly discuss dating, relationships, sexuality, and sexual wellness in a way that is honest, educational, and relatable.
I’m most proud of turning something I started in 2015 into a long-term career and building communities of hundreds of thousands of people across multiple platforms. I’ve been able to work with brands in many different industries, host my own podcast, travel, and create a business around being myself.
What sets me apart is that I don’t fit into just one niche. My audience has grown with me through different stages of my life, and I’ve always been willing to talk about topics that other creators may shy away from. Whether I’m talking about fashion, body confidence, travel, dating, or sexual wellness, I try to keep my content authentic, informative, entertaining, and unapologetically me.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories are the family traditions of Sunday family dinners, going to the mall and eating in the food court every Friday night, and homemade pizza nights.
