Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Anthony.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Native to the Phoenix area, achieving a BFA from Arizona State University. I have been able to explore so many different mediums during my time in school which help achieve my style of work allowing myself to share a perspective of a world still learning to navigate
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My life as a creative has been a great outlet to make sense of the world around me. I am able to sit with myself and have a conversation on what feelings, ideas, and questions that sits in my head.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an artist in work with an array of mediums in order to navigate the physical and mental landscape of life so that it can be easily digestible. Expressing myself through drawing, painting, and sculpture. my process is ritualistic in nature. each piece starts with an idea based around experiences and emotions from moments within myself whether it was something dealt in the past or currently struggling with and amplifying it to an extent where
others can find similarities to their own life in which I interpret by using the ancient tool of music as a conduit. I surrender to the melodies as I let the feelings of joy, fear, sadness, love, and anger guide me into the mindset that allows raw emotion within every detail of the piece creating stories that can be shared as humans always have for thousands of years.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
a memory I often think of was during my time in elementary school when I sat outside my home one sunny afternoon having my first art stand. I probably sat out their for half an hour which felt like an eternity then until one lady on her daily walk decided to buy one of my art pieces I made during art class, which I sold for 10 cents. I was ecstatic !
