Hi Getsemani, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After years of Corporate America, my body mind and soul needed a “reset.” I took a big leap of faith and resigned from my corporate job with no back up plan. That lasted about 3 months until my mind needed SOMETHING to do. I guess being a full time mom and wife wasnt enough! That’s how Its a Tots World came to life. I saw a need in the event industry for our smallest clients. Toddler birthday parties are huge, yet, there was no specific entertainment for them. The mission of Its a Tots World became to provide an unforgettable event not just for the parents, but for the little ones as well. Five years later, we are happy to be one of the many soft play businesses in the valley and we like to think we were one of the firsts that paved the way!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth road? Yeah right!
Every entrepreneur will tell you that they work harder than they ever did at any job. We wear many hats and take things personally when something doesnt go right. That is why a small struggle can feel like the end of the world for a small business owner. Vehicles giving out on us the day of the event, weather working against our favor, and the inevitable children being sick on event days can throw us in for a whirlwind of struggles all in a day’s work.
We’ve been impressed with It’s a Tots’ World, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It’s a Tots World is a softplay and ballpit rental business focusing on toddler events in Phoenix and Scottsdale Arizona. We provide non stop entertainment with our play areas, taking care of all set up and tear down. We pride ourselves in our aesthetic look bringing chic and luxury to kids’ birthday parties. We have the largest selection of ball pits matching almost every theme your mind can imagine. Our time in the business sets us apart from others. Although we have only been in business for 5 years, this is an extremely new industry making us one of the first softplay businesses here in Arizona. What sets us apart from others is that every single event is operated by my husband or myself. From the second you inquire, to the event tear down, you will be talking or seeing either one of us present to address all needs. There is little room for miscommunication this way, as well as pride to making your event the best one yet! I want readers to know that although it might seem glamorous to own a business, it is not easy! We make a lot of sacrifices as a family to keep the business running both during busy and slow season. When people ask me why I do it? The easy way out would be to go back to a 9-5. The challenge keeps my creative outlet going, allows me to maximize my time with both of my children and most importantly, teaches them that hard work and dedication will give you a sense of pride that is not found easily. I hope to inspire my daughter to follow along the entrepreneurial role some day!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was smart, witty, and always had a way with words. I could get away with almost anything. Cheerleading was always a part of my life. Being a leader and a team player has always been my number one personality trait I would say.
