Conversations with Faith Animashaun

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Animashaun.

Hi Faith, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started documenting my life back when I was 17, because I’ve always had bad memory, and wanted to show my future kids what I was doing as a kid, as well as their grandma, aunts and uncles (blood and non-blood). Fast forward almost a decade later, and I finally have the time and energy to pour into my craft. In my early 20’s I was trying to figure out life, and get on my feet by being the best I could be for my new big girl job, fast forward to now, and I recently was laid off, and it was kind of the best thing that’s ever happened to me! I can pour into my family with my time, pour into my goal of being a successful content creator, by staying consistent and find like minded Type A girlies who are either big sisters, preparing for motherhood (way in advance), and/or love to host and cook for family and friends. I wouldn’t trade this decade long process for the world, because it started with High School Vlogs on Youtube, and fast forward, I’m preparing my life for kids, married to the love of my life, and becoming the hostess with the mostess!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh absolutely not! Trying to juggle college and content creation was ROUGH! It felt like I was always behind on content. I’d record A LOT, but very little got the chance to be edited, and seen by the world. There was also A LOT of comparison in my early 20’s, so trying to find myself, but also share my life, but also trying to find my niche was SO HARD! After almost 10 years, I feel like I just don’t care anymore! I’ve released any/everybody’s opinions of me, and realistically the judgement was coming from inside the house. I’ve been known to self sabotage, and truly being in my head was limiting me, and now being laid off, the opportunities to make money are endless because I’m starting at $0. No matter how I’m feeling, I have to post, because I don’t have a choice BUT to be successful! No matter how long that takes!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I really love to share snippets of my life, that would make just one “weird girl” feel less alone. For example, being Type A aka running a strict program, taking lead, often loves order, and is a huge fan of a schedule/itinerary, is something that I really lean into. From what I’ve heard from a few girlies, is that they didn’t even know what being Type A was, they just thought they were weird, which is often how Type A girls are perceived, but hey we make the world go round! To that point, I’m using my Type A-ness to share with the world how I’m preparing for a baby 2 years in advance, and many women have said their families have been critical of wanting to wait and prepare, because you’ll “never be ready”, but my goal is to have at least one woman be critical of who she’s procreating with, and what she wants that to look like regarding financial, physical, & mental health. I’m also very multi-faceted. I love to be a big sister, a fun wife, a good host, and an amazing chef, but come October, I love to paint my face and get into my cosplay bag. You really don’t know what you’re going to get when you get to my page, but you’ll giggle!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like how I grew up here, and I’m able to see it grow. I’m not the hugest fan of how overhyped a few restaurants out here are, it’s quite literally not THAT good!
