Hi Sebastain, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
my name is Sebastian Gonzalez I’m a journalist that interviews celebrities for a living when i first stared i was in my senior year of high school back then it was a pipe dream to me when i was starting out i was interviewing local bands friends basically whatever i could get my hands on what really inspired me to focus more on celebrities was just the sheer amount of content that you can obtain from them when looking at views on platforms such as you tube TikTok Instagram and what there’s a viral aspect that plays into it but i think what really gravitated to me was the whole scene as most artist nowadays have there own scene that they made more relevant artist such as the hellp revitalized the whole early 200ths area of music while adding a new mix calling it hyper pop which in turn has thrived in its own scene so really being a part of these different scenes is something that brings a lot of pride in me as every sense has its own community of people over the years i have built friendships with a couple big artist i think one of the biggest perks of interviewing celebrity’s and music artist is that you can be backstage with them and from real relationships that are hard to make you get to be front and center watching the whole creative process go down while learning as much about the music industry a good friend of mine Dom corleo always invites me to his shows and i think that’s something special while doing this adventure in my life I’ve realized there’s a whole photography aspect to it i catch myself interviewing a lot of celebrities backstage at Meany events they host and sometimes I’m required to obtain what is called a media pass which basically has you acts as a photographer for this event but a little trick I’ve learned is this can also act as a way to get interviews with whoever’s preforming that night so I’ve definitely been becoming more invested in photography as they both overlap in a way what i hope i can do in the future is do bigger events interview celebrities that have a big enough buzz i guess only time can tell
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
its not as smooth as one would perceive it to be I think social media doesn’t even do it justice by how Meany hurdles i have to go though to conduct celebrity interviews and have them look presentable to the public eye one of the most common struggles i go though is just securing the damn thing as you must find ways to have the artist celebrity or whatever be interviewed most of the time its done though there management but in a few cases the artist themself simply would just agree i think a huge misconception about the process is its easy to get as there is huge amount of people like me coming out on social media and having mixed levels of success i think what make it hard is the fact that there’s no one way approach to it every time there’s some new technique on where to find the person you want to interview and have them argue to your time etc.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
my most viewed work is the interview i had with this artist named the hellp and nine vicious they are both great interviews what made the hellp interview special enough to get somewhat viral on youtube is the band is not widely know but yet they have worked with the biggest artist to date and have been around for a while know although one of the members from this band is a well known photographer in the industry working with Grammy nominated artist roslia the other band members not as much so the whole narrative of exposing there achievements is what really stood out the other interview that’s gone great for me is the nine vicious interview this was when he was not not widely know but was getting a huge amount of cosigns from artist such as young thug etc. so the mystery element of the interview is what really made it go viral
Any big plans?
my plans for the future is i can see this channel i have start to interview more bigger artist that have a much more influential part in our pop culture i want to interview legends such as asap rocky people on a bigger scale where they are widely know across the world then i want to start to implement more risky questions when i do these interviews I want to get more engagement from the fans as well as work with as Meany creatives that i can have the opportunity to do so
