Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayerling Mondragón.
Hi Mayerling , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello , my name is Mayerling Mondragón and I’m the owner of Frida’s Freezy Pops ,a local business in Arizona .
Well, I started my ice pop business 2 years ago ,pretty much out of necessity, totally from scratch, with all my best vibes ,all my effort and positivism! And it quickly became something much more meaningful.
At the time, I was working a part time and a full-time job ,I was really struggling financially. Working for companies that no matter how many hours I put in, it never seemed to be enough, I totally felt stucked having the same income ,putting all my time and effort without any improvement personally or financially, so I knew I had to try something different,so I decided to start my own small, beautiful and promising project.
The idea was in my mind for several months—”Mexican homemade ice pops!”—well, the journey was anything but easy. In the beginning, I sold to neighbors and friends, walking with my 7 year old daughter by my side for hours under the Arizona sun, carrying my cooler from park to park, hoping to make a few sales. It was exhausting, and there were days when I questioned if it would ever grow into something stable.
But I never stopped believing in my small project, little by little, things started to change🙏. I began connecting with more people, getting repeat customers, and eventually I took a chance and started selling at local farmers markets. That step changed everything. What started as a small side idea slowly became a job opportunity for others and my main source of income.
Today, I’m proud to say that this business has given me something I didn’t have before—financial stability, independence, and a sense of purpose. I was able to leave my jobs and focus fully on building something of my own. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been totally worth it. I currently working and building my second small project, Carol’s Sectret Garden (Home Decor Accessories)
This journey has taught me that sometimes the smallest ideas, when combined with hard work and persistence, can completely change your life. What started as a way to improve and survive became my dream—and now I’m proudly living it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth process at all, talking about the long walks looking for sales under the Arizona’s Summer, the time I had for rest and sleep was sometimes less than 2hrs from job to job, hours and hours of labor (production) between my full time job and my dream in process, family and personal matters…but every step was totally worth it to improve, learn and grow!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a single mom , I’ve been working in the restaurant industry for many years in the past. Now I’m dedicated to my own two businesses…

(Arizona Local Home Decor Business)
I named each of my business after my daughters names Carol and Frida!🤗❤️
I’m proud of my “I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but I’m going to make it happen!”
People often said that I’m a hustle woman ,I like to think that I’m a strong one!
I think that there’s always a way to do something I want to do ,I believe that the possibilities or the limitations are in our minds,we are in charge to feed our positive or our pessimistic thoughts.
I like to believe that if I can dream it ,I can create it!
I believe in my self, no matter how hard the road looks like, no matter how difficult the obstacles could be,I always push my self to the limit and if something goes wrong, I learn ,I fix what I did wrong and I continue trying again and again and I don’t stop until I’m proud of what I’m doing, and just Iike that I keep going looking always for a way to improve.
I started working in my parents business since I was 7 years old ,I learned so much from my parents, all that I know about having my own business,I proudly learned it from them, they are my mentors!
I have a 22 year old daughter who has become another version of my self ,a way better version,a brave hard working girl, with goals ahead, resilient, active, passionate, creative, lovely and smart young business owner!
I also have a lovely year old daughter, who has been by my side in every step of my dream’s process , especially in the long walks under the Arizona’s hot sun, she’s been part of the whole process and now she has a tiny small business, selling bracelets and beautiful stuff for little girls like her….she sales in every market with me, she has become a little entrepreneur…
I’m proud of my daughters, determined and focused creating their own path!
