Hidden Gems: Meet Quincy Smythe of I see Water LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Smythe.

Hi Quincy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This is a broad question… I will stick to irrigation and why. I wanted to be a farmer or more so just in the agriculture world. I began by just wanting to learn a little bit of each of the industries that are needed to be a farmer. I did this knowing that I would eventually need to take care of my own farm. So I did, I learned low voltage electricity, food storage, planting, harvesting and sales as well . I was working a 9-5 job when I started mapping my vision. I learned all the skills including irrigation. Simultaneously, I spent time working at an irrigation supply store diligently and adequately doing the work of 3-4 people, daily. I was burnt out every single week on top of listening to contractors tell me their winning stories from their week. I was working 50-60 hrs weekly … still struggling, constantly wondering what I needed to do to move up. I continued to get passed up on promotions, once the corporate giant finally got around to hiring at my location. First a woman with no experience in arizona irrigation, next another transfer from a different state and still I continued to work hard. Finally they bring in a failed golf salesman to be the General Manager. That was my breaking point, I told myself “I can do this, I know enough.” It began as a “side hustle” for me to do outside of work, then the separation came. I left this giant store that might have carried me far. For 4 years i bounced back and forth working part time and building customers. No advertising, no business cards solid word of mouth from side hustle to registered business to hitting my first 5year mark coming july 2026. 2025 i worked to solidify my foundation,2026 started paid advertising hoping to hire a second tech by the end of this year.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
haaa smooth. Honestly what didnt happen in this five years. With little to no knowledge on how to run a business, how to pull in new clients or even where to order reciepts. Im no stranger to struggle at all it seems my energy attracts abnormal struggles to alwasys come out stronger on the other side. From start to finsih there were many ups and downs and big downs. between firing family members , struggling to keep my truck stocked, managing incoming funds for taxes and operational cost its just been hectic. really being a service providor gas, maintanence on my truck are things that can change your bottom line quicker than a sneeze catches you off gaurd. Im happy im still doing it though because the worse struggle was that thought of having to go get a full time job again

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I want the community to know that not only does ji see water strive to hold a standard in irrigation that is absent. i want everyone to know that i see water leans to conserve water and show the community how. I am proud of the direction my company is heading beacuse we have been slowly intergrating backyard garden transformations into our services wanting to help as many people as possible to grow a good protion of thier own food. Im not the cheapest because my diagnostic skills are top teir but im not the most expensive beacuse i feel capitalism has too hard of a grip on us in this country.

How do you define success?
short. having enough money to change the lives around me and decide my leisure time.
