Hi Kacee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Curated by Kacee got started in the most unexpected way. I decided to make some custom patch hats for my girlfriends as Christmas presents in 2023. I wanted the hats to be personal and something that reflected who they were. I’ve always loved gift giving and paying attention to the little details that make people feel seen.
After I gave the hats to my friends, they started posting them on social media, and before I knew it, my inbox was flooded with messages asking where they could be purchased and how orders could be placed. At the time, I never intended for it to become a business, it started as just a creative outlet to do something meaningful for the people I love.
The requests kept growing, and the support kept showing up, and eventually Curated by Kacee turned into something so much bigger than I ever imagined. What started with a few custom hats and a love for creating became a brand and a community built from pure chaos, caffeine and passion.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting Curated by Kacee- like most dreams- has come with its fair share of ups and downs. One of the hardest parts along the way was constantly wondering if I was making the right decisions. There has been and still are moments where every choice feels like a gamble, especially when it comes to pouring time, energy, and finances into something that started from nothing.
There are moments of uncertainty- wondering if things were actually going to work out or if I was chasing something that might never take off. Building a business requires a lot of blind faith, long nights, sacrifices, and believing in yourself even when things feel unclear.
Through every risk, every stressful moment, every leap of faith- Curated by Kacee kept moving and proved the scariest risks become the most rewarding ones.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Curated by Kacee creates custom hats that push the envelope- edgy, alternative, sarcastic pieces that are meant to stand out instead of blend in. What I am most proud of is this brand genuinely reflects who I am as a person. Curated by Kacee is unapologetically authentic to my personality and my style.
What sets Curated by Kacee apart is we are never afraid to go against the norm. In fact, the entire brand is built around doing just that. I don’t create for everyone and that’s the point. Every design is meant to feel bold, different, and a little chaotic- something that makes people feel confident wearing what actually represents them instead of following trends or fitting into a box.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memories are the summers spent at Lake Powell with my family. We would go up for long weekends at a time, spending our days ripping around on jet skis, hanging out on the houseboat, grilling food and just enjoying being together.
Those trips were loud, carefree and full of laughter- the kind of memories that stick with you forever. I’m so grateful for how hard my husband has worked to get us a boat so those traditions can continue with my children, it feels so special to give the same kind of experiences to my kids.
