Exploring Life & Business with Kaitlyn Wolfe of Kaitlyn Wolfe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Wolfe.

Kaitlyn , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been drawn to design since childhood, influenced by my father’s engineering background and my formative years living in London, where architecture and travel shaped my creative eye. After earning my MBA and working alongside interior designers, architects, and general contractors, I began to notice a recurring gap between design vision and construction execution.

In 2016, I took a leap and founded my own firm to bridge that gap – creating a fully integrated model that brings interior design and licensed general contracting under one roof. What started as a one-woman operation has grown into a full-service design & build firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, supported by a talented team and in-house capabilities ranging from custom furniture to upholstery and tile work.

Today, my work is known for creating intentional, organic modern spaces that blend natural materials, global influences, and thoughtful craftsmanship, delivering a seamless experience from concept to completion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting my own business meant leaving the security of a stable role and stepping into the unknown, where success depended entirely on my resilience and belief in the vision. The early years required long hours, constant problem-solving, and learning how to navigate an industry that’s constantly evolving.

Building an integrated design and construction firm came with its own challenges, including earning trust, refining processes, managing growth, and staying aligned creatively while scaling a team. I’ve had to adapt quickly to changing technologies, market shifts, and client expectations, all while maintaining the level of detail and intentionality that defines our work. Those challenges pushed me to grow not only as a designer, but as a leader and business owner, and ultimately shaped the firm into what it is today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business, Kaitlyn Wolfe, is a full-service luxury interior design and licensed general contracting studio based in Scottsdale, Arizona. I’m a multidisciplinary designer and creative force, known for a bold, sculptural approach to interiors and product design, and for transforming spaces with intention. With the rare dual expertise of both interior designer and builder, I lead a Phoenix-based studio recognized for its streamlined design-build approach across residential and commercial environments.

Since launching the firm in 2016, I’ve grown it from a one-woman operation into a 25+ person team known for bridging the gap between concept and construction with technical precision, functional thinking, and a grounded, collaborative process. We specialize in full-gut remodels, custom homes, and boutique commercial projects, managing every phase from concept through construction and final installation. Having design and construction under one roof allows us to think holistically about every project, aligning aesthetics, function, timelines, and execution as one cohesive vision.

Stylistically, our work is known for an organic modern sensibility layered with sculptural lighting, rich materiality, and bold yet timeless spaces. My design perspective is deeply influenced by natural landscapes and global travel, including my personal journey to all 63 U.S. National Parks, which continues to inform how I approach scale, texture, light, and connection to place. We layer natural materials like stone, plaster, wood, concrete, and steel with vintage and artisan-made pieces sourced from around the world, creating spaces that feel collected, intentional, and enduring.

Beyond interiors, my creativity extends into product design through several in-house lines. GROUND FLOOR is our boutique furniture and lighting collection, SUBSTRATE is a curated tile line, and SHOP MY WAREHOUSE offers a rotating selection of vintage and handmade homewares. Each of these reflects my commitment to intentional design, artisan collaboration, and shaping environments with lasting impact.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust and recognition we’ve earned. Our work has been recognized by Architectural Digest Pro, Modern Luxury, Luxe Interiors + Design, Iconic Life, and more, but what matters most to me is that our clients, collaborators, and trade partners trust us to deliver thoughtful, highly detailed work with integrity. I’m also deeply proud to lead a female-owned and led firm in a male-dominated industry, proving that high-level design and construction can coexist seamlessly and successfully.

What I want readers to know is that Kaitlyn Wolfe is about more than creating beautiful spaces. It’s about rethinking the design and build experience entirely by making it intentional, collaborative, and deeply human from start to finish. Our goal is to create environments that elevate daily living, reflect individuality, and stand the test of time both aesthetically and functionally.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I don’t believe in trends. I believe in intentional design and long-term thinking. Over the next five to ten years, I see the industry continuing to move toward more integrated models where design and construction work together from the start. Clients want fewer handoffs, clearer communication, and one trusted team guiding the process from concept through execution.

That shift is exactly why we introduced Trust the Process, a refined, six-month design-to-delivery experience that brings design, procurement, light construction, furnishings, and styling into one cohesive, guided journey. It’s built on clarity, integrity, and collaboration, and reflects how we believe design should be experienced.

The future of this industry isn’t about what’s trending. It’s about thoughtful spaces, honest processes, and work that’s designed to last.
