Tavit Daniel of Scottsdale on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Tavit Daniel and have shared our conversation below.

Tavit, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day involves attending to my 2 children while simultaneously running the 3 businesses I operate. Its a lot of work, but it’s my choice. I love my kids and the life I can provide for them. I also make sure to put in the effort and get to the gym 3 days a week. Being healthy is not an option, its a must in order be able to do all the things I want to do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Originally from Las Vegas, the second half of my life has been spent in the Phoenix metro area. I picked up my first camera in 2006 and haven’t looked back. Since then, I have mastered nightclub and music festival photography then transitioned to wedding and corporate event photography. Scaling a talented team of Photographers and videographers has been a huge step in my career. There are a lot of talented individuals out there, but only a few, from what I’ve seen, truly understand what it takes to go the extra mile in taking care of the client and putting ego aside. I used Gordon Ramsay in my previous interview with you guys, the point I tried to make was, if you’re going to do something, do it right, don’t half ass it. Its been my core belief and has paid off greatly.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Myself. I learned the hard way in community college how important a GPA was when I tried to transfer into ASU. I didn’t realize how important that was. At 18, I was practically on my own and had to figure life out. When you have no choice but to fight or flight, and I didn’t want to fail, you grow up real fast. Sacrificing years of holidays to grow my business is something most people don’t want to do, but I had no choice. My success came from my grit and perseverance. Having idols like Bruce Lee, Gordon Ramsay, Michael Jordan, these were all champions, and while I will never be like them, watching and trying to understand their work ethic is what makes greatness.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Stupid answer, but playing video games, specifically RPGs (role-playing games). In every game, the protagonist suffers, grows, gets stronger, and eventually defeats the evil. That’s pretty much how a chunk of my childhood was. Always moving, new schools, new kids, it was a psychological struggle, but I got through it. We are the protagonist of our own stories. Will you let evil win, or will you destroy it? Silly, but true.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Gordon Ramsay, that man is a legend. While his TV persona can be a bit aggressive, he genuinely cares about people with passion, as do I. You can’t teach passion and drive; that comes from within oneself. The goal is to guide individuals along their journey and support their growth. Gordon never abuses his power; it’s his character that makes him successful, which I admire.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My passion, attention to detail, speed of delivered edits, and humor. Photography is just 1/2 of the equation. How you make them feel is the other.
