Liz Hahn of Phoenix & Scottsdale on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Liz Hahn and have shared our conversation below.

Liz, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
I have. I’d say I’m naturally more of a thoughtful decision-maker than a quick reactor. I like to take the time to gather information, listen to different perspectives, and make sure the choice I’m making actually makes sense in the long run.

For example, there was a moment when I was being pushed to jump on a ‘limited-time offer’ for an AI video program that claimed it could make my brand go viral. It sounded tempting, but something felt off; the product was expensive, the content strategy wasn’t solid, and the execution plan didn’t seem sustainable. So instead of acting on impulse, I waited.

A little while later, the right media team actually reached out to work with us. Now, we’re producing authentic, high-quality videos that combine AI with real-life footage, and the results have been incredible. That experience reminded me that sometimes, not acting fast is actually the smartest move you can make.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Liz Hahn, founder and CEO of Phoenix Bachelor Party and Bad Girl Productions, two event planning agencies that create unforgettable party experiences with top local entertainers.

I’ve always loved putting together amazing parties, starting back in college, and I’m lucky that I’ve been able to turn that passion into a business that helps people celebrate life’s big moments in style.

At Phoenix Bachelor Party and Bad Girl Productions, we offer fully customizable party packages for all kinds of private events, although our main focus is bachelor parties. We plan everything from golf trips with our Golf Caddie Baddies to pool parties with eye-candy bartenders, guys’ nights out, stag parties, and even after-parties for major events like the WM Phoenix Open and the Super Bowl.

We take pride in carefully recruiting and training our entertainers to deliver a first-class experience. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, we’ve mastered the art of creating memorable, one-of-a-kind celebrations not just in Phoenix, but across the U.S.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I’d say I learned the most about work from my family. I grew up in a Midwest family full of scientists, and their dedication to their projects and inventions really shaped me. I watched them approach everything with curiosity, precision, and persistence, and that mindset stuck with me.

To me, building a business is a lot like science. It’s about testing, observing, adjusting, and constantly innovating. My family taught me that great work doesn’t come from luck or talent alone. It comes from experimentation, discipline, and the courage to keep refining until you get it right. That’s the same approach I’ve used to build every company I’ve ever owned.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I didn’t almost give up. I actually did.

I started my brand to put myself through college, but after graduation, I felt pressure to get a real job. I had worked so hard for my degrees and made the Dean’s List, so I started applying for corporate jobs. That’s when I realized I was completely unemployable.

I kept asking myself, ‘Isn’t this what I’m supposed to do?’ Deep down, I knew I already had a career. I just didn’t recognize it yet. I walked away from my brand and tried to fit the corporate mold. That led me to start another business recruiting mortgage reps in the wholesale account executive space.

Working in the mortgage industry taught me something surprising. It wasn’t that different from the entertainment world. The personalities, the energy, and the dynamics were all the same. There were fun moments, challenges, wins, and frustrations. I realized the industry doesn’t matter as much as the people.

Eventually, I sold that company and returned to my true passion, my Bad Girl brand. This time, I brought everything I had learned in business, leadership, and sales. I rebuilt it stronger, more structured, and more scalable. It became the million-dollar brand it is today.

What I once saw as giving up turned out to be a reset, the pause I needed to come back stronger than ever.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that we all have access to cosmic consciousness. It is a universal stream of wisdom that connects us to every thought, idea, and insight that has ever existed. When we take the time to sit in silence and open ourselves up, I think we can tap into that frequency and receive knowledge that doesn’t necessarily come from us, but flows through us.

For example, my father passed away a few years ago, but I still feel his presence when I am seeking clarity. He was a chemical engineer, astrophysicist, pilot, and artist, a brilliant mind in every sense. Now, when I need guidance, I feel like I can reach into that same cosmic field and tap into his energy, his intellect, and his creativity.

To me, that is what cosmic consciousness is: an invisible thread that keeps us connected to the people we love, to the wisdom of our ancestors, and to the infinite intelligence that surrounds us all. Yet it is something we cannot prove exists.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am absolutely doing what I was born to do. I was born to understand people, to see the depths of society, and to empower others. I was born to build, to connect, and to create opportunities through business. My purpose has always been about connection. A customer looking for a dancer, a dancer looking for work, I bring them together. That is my magic.

If I had done what I was told to do, I would be living someone else’s story. I was told I would never graduate high school, that college wasn’t for me, and that I should go to trade school. So I became a certified auto mechanic, a cosmetologist, and even a preschool teacher. I respect those paths, but none of them resonated with me. I dropped out of beauty school because I knew I was meant for something bigger.

Now, I am doing exactly what I was meant to do. I am blending online business with entertainment and creating opportunities for others to rise in the process. I am no longer following directions. I am following my purpose.
