Cyn Silva of Scottsdale on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Cyn Silva and have shared our conversation below.

Cyn, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?

Coffee first, always!
I always start my day with a coffee to go, then throw on my running shoes and head out for a hike or a walk. Starting my morning this way is a must, it clears my mind and sparks my creativity, setting the tone for when I step into my art studio to work on my current commissions.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
CYN SILVA is a visionary contemporary artist whose bold, electrifying works ignite the senses. Renowned for her fusion of modern abstraction, expressive landscapes, and urban energy, her paintings pulse with vibrant color, movement, and depth. Each piece is a masterful interplay of light and texture, creating immersive experiences that draw viewers into a world where the past and present collide in striking harmony.
Her artistic journey, once rooted in the misty coastlines of Carmel and to the lush vineyards of Napa Valley, has taken an exhilarating turn into the raw, untamed beauty of Arizona’s desert landscapes. Infused with a modern edge, Cyn’s work reinvents traditional scenery with an unexpected twist, where rugged terrain meets a sleek, contemporary aesthetic. Her signature style, marked by layered compositions and a fearless use of color, evokes emotion and intrigue, setting her apart in the contemporary art world.
Beyond the canvas, Cyn is a dynamic force in the art community.
Whether mesmerizing audiences with live painting demos, inspiring the next generation through art education, or generously donating her work to high-profile events, she is deeply committed to making an impact. With a growing presence in Scottsdale’s thriving art scene, especially in her intimate gallery studio in Old Town, her work continues to captivate collectors, designers, and art enthusiasts who crave originality and passion in every brushstroke.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The earliest memory I have of feeling truly powerful through my art was in high school, when I began selling my work in local galleries. A few interior designers discovered my paintings and commissioned me to create custom pieces for Silicon Valley tech companies in Northern California. Their belief in my talent gave me the confidence to pursue a lifelong career as an artist. That early encouragement shaped my path and has fueled my passion for art ever since.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Pursue your passion.
Learn, grow, study, and give your all to whatever lights you up inside. Life will always get in the way, it throws curveballs when you least expect them. But it’s how you respond that shapes your path. Every challenge, every setback, teaches you what works and what doesn’t.

I moved out on my own at 18. While I was creating artwork, I also decided to get my Real Estate License. In my very first year, I was named Rookie of the Year. Looking back now, I can laugh, but I also remember how hard I worked. I gave it everything I had, working days, nights, and weekends.

That career ended up spanning over 36 years of me selling over a half a billion in real estate volume, me, myself and I. I feel blessed that I accomplished that and was successful at it. During that time, I never stopped being an artist. I always painted, showcased my art in galleries, and collaborated with amazing designers, architects, and builders. Real estate and art went hand in hand, one fed the other.

Now, I’ve come full circle. My heart and focus are fully on my art, where it’s always truly belonged. I thank God every day for my gift and I look forward to donating art whenever I can, always up for a good cause.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see is what you get. I am not a fancy girl, I am really a Tomboy at heart. My go to outfit is a great white T-shirt, flip flops and a baseball hat. No makeup and no fuss. Sums me up, I like to keep things organic. Be true to yourself and BE YOU!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
When I was successful in my real estate career, it allowed me to buy my first home at 24, luxury cars, and other material things. But honestly, none of that matters to me anymore. I’ve checked those boxes. Now, my focus is entirely on creating original art.

I get so excited when someone reaches out to commission a piece. I’ve found my art clientele to be genuinely wonderful, and many have become great friends. I pinch myself knowing I get to dream up a painting for them, crafting a story, exploring color choices they love, and creating something completely unique. There’s so much that goes into a single painting; it’s like writing a novel, but on a canvas.
