Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Bailee Stewart

Bailee Stewart shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Bailee, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
On a normal day I’ll typically wake up (not as early as I want to) pretty late since I stay up livestream streaming on my socials. Once I get out out bed I’ll typically get my morning coffee to start the day so I can get ready and film. I typically set a day or two aside within the week just for filming content. Then I’ll set another day aside just for editing. It usually takes a few hours just to record some footage good enough to post and then I hop on livestream until bed!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Oh hey! I’m Bailee Stewart, a professional non outfit repeater, emotional support lipliner wearer, and full-time believer that life’s too short for boring clothes. My brand lives at the intersection of glam, boldness, and sweatpants. Think Bratz doll energy with a sprinkle of modern day clothes. I mix bold Y2K-inspired looks, statement pieces, and a little chaos to remind people that fashion should feel fun, not forced. I am also a live streamer as well on TikTok! I’m currently building out more creative collabs that celebrate confidence, color, and the art of not taking yourself too seriously (even when your fit seriously eats).

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who to be, I was the kid treating every Spirit Week like Fashion Week. Pajama Day? Ate. Crazy Hair Day? Editorial moment. I was literally dressing to impress the hallway walls and my fav homeroom teacher. I got bullied for my hair growing up, so naturally I made it my favorite accessory! If they’re gonna talk, might as well give them something to look at. Now I just channel that same chaotic confidence into everything I wear without worrying what others think! It’s giving equal parts therapy, delusion, and main-character energy all in one!

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
My biggest fear? Probably being too much… or honestly, just being me. I got bullied for everything. My pale skin, freckles, red hair, blonde eyebrows, basically existing as a redhead was a full-time personality trait for everyone else to comment on and joke about. I already stood out, and dressing loud just made it louder. I was scared no one would want to be friends with “the ginger,” or that boys wouldn’t like me. Now I realize that standing out is literally my superpower. I love being a role model for younger girls who grew up feeling the same way, reminding them that the things that make you different are the things people end up wishing they had.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That authenticity can be manufactured. Everyone preaches “be yourself,” but then edits everything in their pictures and call it relatability. The truth is, life isn’t always perfect! I’m not constantly at events or jet-setting with other influencers. Most days, I’m in bed munching on Hot Cheetos, sipping an Alani, and panic-editing a brand video five hours before the deadline. The industry loves to pretend it’s effortless, but behind every Coachella post is caffeine, chaos, and a ring light. I think the real flex is admitting you’re not perfect while still making it look fun!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People will probably think my legacy is just about clothes or looking cute online, but it’s so much deeper than that. I’ve always wanted to perform and sing, and influencing became my literal stage. People think it’s easy, but putting yourself out there for the whole world to judge and still showing up again tomorrow to do it ALL OVER AGAIN is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Behind the glam is someone who built confidence from criticism and turned it into creativity. I want to make it okay for other girls to do the same, to be loud, dramatic, confident, emotional, and completely themselves. If that gets misunderstood, that’s fine. The ones who get it are the ones I’m doing it for.
