We recently had the chance to connect with Carolyn Hsiao and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Carolyn , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Learning the ability to persist with difficult and unfamiliar tasks until they are complete, and not receiving immediate gratification afterwards.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Boring parties are a waste of time. They don’t reflect well on their host, and they are an obligation, instead of an invitation. Trust us, as a family with three young children, we’ve experienced this first hand.
Guests left our parties early too. It was disappointing to see, but we couldn’t blame them for being bored — we didn’t have something to bring everyone together.
We understand that time is valuable, and parties shouldn’t feel like a burden.

The day we rescued Henry as a family pet, changed our lives. He quickly won the hearts of our neighborhood. Friends and family all came to see their buddy, Henry.
Everyone loves interacting with him. We noticed how special he is, because he loves people too.

Since becoming a part of our family, we no longer had boring parties. Henry brought everybody together.
Our events were something that our guests looked forward to. No one wanted to leave.
Hosting parties with Henry turned into laughter and connection – we want to share that with everyone.

As much as Henry loves people, he loves donkeys too. So, we rescued Phil to be Henry’s lifelong sidekick and companion.
Together they’re unstoppable – now they’re rescuing parties and events.

Henry and Phil have helped us see that it’s not just about passing time— celebrations should be meaningful.
Seeing how Henry and Phil bring our guests together has shown us the true power of shared experiences. It’s not just about keeping guests entertained; it’s about creating those priceless moments together.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Communicating with people everyday has taught me multiple valuable lessons — anywhere from leadership skills to marketing and sales.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, but I remind myself that the greater the challenge, the greater the reward is after all of the time, effort and sacrifice.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, we are a professional team, who values maintaining integrity in the public’s eye, as well as, behind the scenes.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Worrying about people’s perceptions of you — as that is not controllable or always correct.
