We recently had the chance to connect with Rachel Kaplan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I have found that working on LEGOS for adults is extremely therapeutic.
I also enjoy scrapbooking memories.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My goal is to spread kindness and acceptance through my work as a writer of children’s books. I love that I can spread the words about kindness, friendship and acceptance. Having been bullied and treated differently motivated me to become a writer. I currently have completed my eighth book called “Magic is Never Lost” which will be available before the holidays. I did not learn to read until High School and never gave up on my dream to write books. I believe you can do anything you set your mind to doing. I learned to have confidence in myself and not to listen to negative comments and to keep being positive. I want to be an inspiration to others.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My first trip to Disneyland was magical. I saw the importance of imagination and believing. Disney movies also helped me develop my imagination and see the good in people. I learned the importance of never giving up and if you can dream it, you can do it.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are smart enough and brave enough to know you can do anything you put your mind to. Love yourself for who you truly are. Remember you are extraordinary.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
People are forgetting about the importance of family, friendship and kindness and realizing what is important in life. People are forgetting values and helping other people.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I regret that I have not been able to experience different things due to my anxiety. Every day is a challenge but I am working on my goal of being comfortable in different situations.
