Community Highlights: Meet Jacquelyn Johnson of Organized By JJ LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquelyn Johnson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up with the family business, Null Seed Farms, hard work wasn’t just expected, it was a way of life. I learned early that some days you have to get your hands dirty to keep things running smoothly. I also learned that no matter how busy things get, family always comes first.

That balance between grit and heart still drives me today.

Since I was young, I’ve always wanted to run my own business. My first business idea? A little something I called Everything and Everything. It was like Amazon before Amazon, complete with a handwritten catalog, a purple sparkly butterfly phone, and imaginary customers named after my pets. I even recruited neighborhood friends to be my pretend employees. My storefront? The camper trailer in our front yard.

From duct tape wallets to lemonade stands to Paintings by Jacquelyn, creativity has always been my second language.

But the first time I built something that really mattered to me was in fifth grade. I launched a business called Helping Hands, a student-led idea for visiting seniors who lived alone so they wouldn’t feel alone. My first client, Joe, became a highlight of my childhood. We’d bake cookies, watch Dr. Phil, and share stories after school. That experience taught me the power of showing up, being dependable, and how much it means when someone simply cares.

Fast forward to adulthood: I found myself in a nonprofit operations role that was very structured and data-driven. I missed the spark. I missed the creativity. I missed feeling like I was making an impact.

Then one day, while helping a friend clean out her closet, I said out loud: “If only I could get paid to do this.”

And in that moment, I kid you not, a lightbulb went off.

I went home that night and started researching business names, domains, and everything it would take to get started. That was the beginning of Organized By JJ.

Today, I get to use my creativity and problem-solving skills to transform spaces and lives.

Whether it’s rethinking a cluttered closet, making a chaotic home office functional again, or helping someone finally feel proud of their space, this work combines everything I love.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about creating peace, clarity, and purpose. And most of all, it’s about helping people feel at home in their own homes.

Organized By JJ has brought me incredible connections, from collaborating with fellow organizers to being honored with the NAPO-AZ Community Impact Award for my outreach work. I believe in community over competition, and I’m always here to support other small business owners following their own path.

If you’re ready to let go of what’s weighing you down and create a space that supports the life you actually want to live, I’d love to help. 💜

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey in any small business isn’t always a smooth road, but each step gave me the structure I needed to create a business that’s driven by my values.

When I started Organized By JJ, I knew I didn’t want it to be just a side hustle, I was ready to have a business with a plan and a vision.

I have the privilege of maintaining a full-time job while I slowly and intentionally build a strong foundation. I took classes through the PHX StartUp program at the Phoenix Public Library, Hustle PHX (where I’m now proud to serve as a facilitator for the newest cohort of entrepreneurs!), SEED SPOT, and most recently, Magic Marketing Machine, which is helping me connect even more directly with my ideal clients.

Balancing learning, working, and growing comes with challenges but it’s been worth it every step of the way. The biggest struggle has been balancing a full-time job with starting and running a business. My ultimate goal is to be able to scale Organized By JJ so I can give it 100 percent. I know the impact is even greater when I’m able to give from a place of full focus and energy.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Organized By JJ LLC?
Organized By JJ is a professional hands-on home organizing service based in Phoenix, Arizona. I specialize in helping people navigate life transitions, whether it’s moving, downsizing, welcoming a new baby, or simply craving more calm at home. My mission is to create organized, functional, and enjoyable spaces without judgment or overwhelm.

What sets me apart is the combination of heart and systems. I don’t just tidy up or make things “Pinterest pretty.” I work side-by-side with clients to design systems that work for their actual lives, so they can spend less time managing stuff and more time enjoying what matters most.

Every service I offer is rooted in my signature PEACEFUL Framework:

P – Personalization
E – Efficiency
A – Client-Centered Approach
C – Continuous Learning
E – Emphasize Well-Being
F – Functionality
U – Unite Community
L – Listen to Feedback

That means I don’t copy and paste solutions from one household to another. I create a plan that’s functional, sustainable, and aligned with each client’s needs and routines.

Whether it’s a four-hour in-home session or a full declutter and reset, my goal is for every client to walk away feeling lighter, clearer, and more at home in their space.

I’m most proud that my clients consistently tell me they feel seen, supported, and empowered through this process. Organized By JJ isn’t just about organizing things, it’s about helping people reclaim their peace.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
From an early age, organizing has been an integral part of my life. As a child, I found immense joy in arranging my toys by size and color. This passion for organization continued throughout my college years, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communications with a minor in Leadership from the University of Kansas. I credit my success in college to my strong organizational skills, which allowed me to keep track of important dates and deadlines with ease using lists and calendars.

In 2017, my husband and I moved to Arizona, not knowing anyone. It was a challenging time, but I had us completely unpacked and settled in our new home in two days! This gave me more time to get to know my new community and to reflect on my purpose. And that’s when I realized that my purpose is to help others get organized so that we all can be our best selves. With this in mind, I started Organized By JJ in 2023 as a way to bring organization into people’s lives.

I joined the 2024-2025 NAPO-AZ Board as the Director of Professional Development. In this role, I was able to use my purpose to help others by developing ongoing educational, social, and business building programs for the NAPO-AZ Professional Organizers and Business Partners.
