Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Alfano-Scott
Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
An Arizona native with an inquisitive spirit, I packed up my car and set out for New York shortly after college graduation. There, I spent ten years exploring my zone of genius and testing character, while having the opportunity to learn much about the dynamics of people, business and art. Professionally, I was able to implement my natural talents while refining skills that I may not have originally possessed! A decade treasured, I have returned home where I now contribute my efforts to maintaining the cycle of sustainable fashion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wonder if a smooth road is the direction worth taking, especially for a creative. Inspiration doesn’t play it safe! There were definitely times of pain, worry and loneliness along my journey. I have struggled to find enough work to cover financial commitments, underestimated my burn out potential and neglected relationships that have meant most to me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
If we begin upon my career working in the costumes department for TV & Film, I developed a deep appreciation for storytelling and the details that bring characters to life.
Alternately, I’ve been led to luxury fashion authentication, where I specialize in identifying designer jewelry pieces, ensuring authenticity, and preserving the integrity of high-end fashion resale.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge the artistic and technical sides of fashion—understanding not just aesthetics but the craftsmanship and history behind each piece. My background in film gave me a sharp eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and an ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments.
I’m most proud of my ambition to honor love of fashion, storytelling and education. Beyond authentication and production, I’m passionate about helping creatives navigate financial wellness so they can sustain their artistic pursuits without financial stress. I hope to see my work empowering people to make informed, confident and creative decisions.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’m always pleased to listen to Rick Ruben’s podcast, Tetragrammaton. His book The Creative Act: A Way of Being is also a spectacular edition to his influence. A couple classic mindset books I love are The Icarus Deception by Seth Godin & Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill was also very mindfully written about money and manifestation.
