Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Beck
Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I knew since Junior year of high-school that I wanted to be a Cosmetologist. I was able to accomplish that dream in 2012 while working full time as a waitress living paycheck to paycheck. I worked in a couple areas of the valley first doing nails, then lashes and after covid found a salon that I could do both services in. After being in the industry for 12 years I realized I was ready for a change. I wanted a place to call my own and to create my own brand. So I took the scary leap and decided to go out on my own! That is how Cosmic Hippie Beauty was made.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The hardest part was taking the first initial step. Fear of the unknown can be a difficult thing. I didn’t believe I could do it and after seeing how strained the economy was, making that move seemed like a gamble. I was lucky to have built such a huge support system for almost two decades that helped out during this transition. Knowing others believed in me helped me to believe in myself!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am both a nail artist and lash artist. I do not consider my services appointments but rather experiences. It’s about creating beauty both inside and outside. I pride myself on having a comfortable space and educating my clients to ensure the success of their service. From unique nail art to colored lashes extensions, I love making magic!
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I am very cautious when it comes to risk taking. I had been dreaming about this vision since 2019. I made sure to do months of research before deciding to make the move. I knew the risk of being slow initially was possible and prepared by getting a business credit line and having an emergency savings to help put those worries to ease. I never thought taking a chance on myself would be so scary but the result has been so rewarding!
