Exploring Life & Business with Andy Brenits of Brenits Consulting & Creative

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Andy Brenits.

Andy Brenits

Hi Andy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sure, I’m happy to. I’m Andy Brenits, a brand and creative strategy expert recognized for my award-winning work as an in-house creative director and independent creative consultant. As the Principal of Brenits Creative, I help growing businesses compete with big brands by creating a consistent and impactful way to look, communicate, and act.

I began my career in boutique design studios in New York City and then transitioned to in-house roles at major brands like Gap, NFL, and KPMG. Today, I advise individuals and business owners on brand strategy, creative management, and standing out in a crowded market. My consulting experience spans large organizations like the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) to solopreneurs and founder-led small businesses across various industries.

In addition to my consulting work, I am an experienced mentor and educator, having taught visual design, marketing, brand strategy, and creative development at institutions such as Pratt Institute, MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art), and Columbia University.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t always been smooth, especially being self-employed. One of the toughest challenges I faced when starting out on my own was finding clients. This was particularly difficult because we had recently moved to a new city, and my local professional network was relatively small.

Building a client base from scratch required extensive networking, persistence, and the use of online platforms to reach potential clients. Despite the initial struggles, these experiences taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability in building a successful business.

I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Brenits Consulting & Creative?
Brenits Creative is a brand and creative strategy firm dedicated to helping growing businesses create consistent and referable brands that attract clients like moths to a flame. Our work ensures that our clients look professional and communicate their value effectively and consistently.

What sets us apart is our deep understanding of how small businesses and solopreneurs operate and what works and what doesn’t in brand marketing. One of the aspects I’m most proud of is our ability to help solopreneurs and founder-led small businesses level the playing field against much larger competitors. Our approach is hands-on and personalized, ensuring each client receives the attention and customized solutions they need to succeed.

We offer a range of services, including brand positioning & messaging strategy, naming & visual identity, brand marketing, and content marketing. Our goal is to help our clients differentiate themselves in a crowded market and build strong, memorable, and referable brands.

I want readers to know that Brenits Creative is not just about creating beautiful designs; it’s about building strategic brands that resonate, engage, and grow. Our commitment to excellence and personalized service is at the core of everything we do.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Yes, I believe that sometimes you need to take risks to grow and succeed. It’s important to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. This can mean working with clients in industries you haven’t worked in before, taking on types of projects you’ve never tried, speaking in front of large groups, or even raising your rates.

I’ve taken several major risks in my career. One notable example was when I transitioned from working in-house at major brands to starting my own agency. It was a significant leap, especially since we had recently moved to a new city, and I had to build my client base from scratch. Despite the initial challenges, this risk ultimately paid off and allowed me to develop a thriving business.

I believe that even if you fail, the lessons you learn are invaluable. And when you succeed, those accomplishments become significant milestones in your career. Taking risks is an essential part of growth, both personally and professionally, and it has certainly played a crucial role in my journey.
