Rising Stars: Meet Mckena Honnoll of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mckena Honnoll

Hi Mckena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Originally, I’m from Texas but decided to start a life here in Scottsdale with my husband Drew who is an Arizona native. Even though my Texas roots are deep, I’ve always been one to step out of my comfort zone and pursue new opportunities. I launched my wholesale fashion career in NYC and didn’t look back. I eventually landed in LA representing well known brands and worked with boutiques and major department stores all over the world. I built valuable relationships with clients both domestically and internationally.

I met my husband while living in LA and we hit the ground running to say the least! We got engaged, moved, then welcomed our baby girl into the world on August 22, 2023. She is the is the light of our lives and has given me a purpose that I never thought was possible. Shortly after, we got married in November. All while these huge life changes were happening, I was working on obtaining my real estate license.

I had to think about my career moving forward and what that would look like once making the move to Arizona. The market for the fashion industry that I had invested 10 years into, didn’t really exist here. What would I do and how will I make such a big pivot in my 30s? Luckily, my husband’s close friends, Arash and Larissa Hoss, presented the idea of working with Larissa in real estate. I knew this was a great opportunity being she is a successful and hard working woman that I look up to. I am beyond blessed to have her as a mentor and forever grateful!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I definitely wouldn’t say smooth! Trying to focus on studying and passing my exam all while caring for a newborn was beyond difficult. However, the motivation I had to start my career in real estate in order to provide the best life possible for my daughter was what kept me going. I had failed the exam many of times, but let’s not get into that! I had a lot of negative thoughts and doubts creep into my head after making attempt after attempt. Although it took me longer than I wanted it to, I stuck it out and actually did it! I felt so proud of what I had accomplished.

The thing about me is, I am a positive person but sometimes I allow fear of failure to hold me back. Making a career change in my 30s was scary! I promised myself that I wouldn’t let that happen this time around. I had a new purpose and I needed to follow through not only for me, but for my daughter.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed real estate agent at Launch x Compass focusing on residential properties and a part of the Larissa Hoss team. I am so thankful to work along side really amazing women that support each other. I am most proud of obtaining my license while becoming a new mother and never giving up! I’d say what sets me apart from others is I actually love to be thrown into new atmospheres and be challenged. I believe it helps you learn about yourself and really forces you to grow, personally and professionally. Failure can be scary, but so is staying complacent and not going after what you want.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Dance was a huge part of my childhood and even went on to audition for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders when I was 18 years old.
