Hi Melanie, It’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Since I was little, I have always wanted to be my boss. I wanted to be in the business world and have my own business. I never wanted to be in a traditional role like a doctor, teacher, or entrepreneur, even if I didn’t know that was the word at the time, but that was always in the back of my head. So, as I got older, graduated high school, and went to college, I would try new venture ideas like selling treats or finding new ways to make some money. Then I started seeing interest in posting TikTok so that I would post random videos here and there, but I needed more consistency or one type of content. Then, in 2021, I started seeing people get ready with my videos or outfit inspo, and I loved them! So, why not? I started posting them again, but only sometimes. After thinking about it, I knew that social media could be a stream of income, and it was already something I enjoyed doing, so I set a goal for myself. I wanted to post at least 1 to 2 videos daily and see how much my account could grow. So I did, and I could see followers coming in, but not fast. I got discouraged, so I would stop posting for a few weeks and start again in January 2023. I hit 10k followers and was ecstatic; I was so happy, which motivated me to keep posting daily. Since then, I have partnered with brands, built a community with my followers, and inspired others to be more confident, wear whatever they want, and feel good about themselves. As a plus-size woman, I have learned that there are so many more plus-size women who feel they need to be more confident wearing clothing that is typically made for thinner women. That is why I love making my own videos and letting others see that you don’t have to be a specific size to wear that cute top you saw online or that absolutely gorgeous skirt. I want others to feel confident in their skin and not let others’ opinions affect how they dress! I love being a content creator and being able to share my makeup looks, my outfits, and my life. I know I am not the most well-known content creator, but I will be one day!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It definitely could have been a smoother road. With posting daily, you get discouraged when you don’t see your followers’ number increase. On top of that, there are a lot of haters online who will say just about anything to try to get under your skin. It isn’t the easiest, especially when you are plus-size, and all people seem to focus on is your body! But it just makes you learn to have more self-love and thick skin!

I am a content creator. I post every single day on TikTok and Instagram. My videos include Get Ready with Me, OOTD, and daily vlogs. My outfit videos are the videos that get the most engagement, and people love to see outfit inspiration. I am proud of the platform I have built for myself and my community! My ability to be confident in my body and not let others affect me is something that many people notice, and they see that I will continue to dress how I do and still keep posting my videos!
