Daily Inspiration: Meet Nahomi Vazquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nahomi Vazquez.

Hi Nahomi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Growing up, my household always had a family camera and video recorder for all of our special events. We captured family vacations, family parties, ceremonies, etc. One of my very close friends also had a video cam in which we would record vlogs and episodes. We would record our little concerts whenever she would babysit me. I grew up in that environment always wanting to capture memories.

One day I was talking to one of my close cousins about not knowing what I wanted to pursue in college. He had mentioned he was doing photography, and that I should as well since my sister and I love to take pictures. Without a second thought, I pursued taking classes to get a certificate of completion and media arts digital imaging.

My perspective started changing in the way I viewed my surroundings. I learned a lot from my professors and the classes that I took at that time. One year later I am now taking photos for family, and friends, and creating fun photo shoots with my sister.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you’re new to something you start familiarizing yourself with the business and how many people around you are doing what you do. It’s not been a smooth road because it was hard not to compare my style and skills to other photographers. I came upon a lot of amazing talented Arizona photographers whose photos I loved.

I started focusing on how they edit their photos and their engagement, rather than trying to recognize what I can do, and who I want to be as a photographer. Everyone says to stick to one category in photography, but in reality, as I’m stepping into the water I’m enjoying it all.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a major nature lover. That is where I find my peace. I love the detail and I’m obsessed with God’s creation. Currently, photography is more so a hobby along with my side business, but I would love to grow and work with more people in the future! I am proud of the photos I take not only for clients but for myself. Creating and capturing an image, that makes me happy.
