Inspiring Conversations with Andy Kvesic of Radix Law

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Kvesic.

Hi Andy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My parents are Croatian immigrants that came to the United States in the early ’70s. They were a classic immigrant story of people that didn’t speak, read, or write English, but came to the United States seeking the American Dream. They started a daycare business in Tucson in an underprivileged neighborhood, and at a very young age, I was working at the family business. What we did not have in community support or financial resources, we made up with hard work. I will never forget being a 10-year-old kid going grocery shopping with my mom, and writing out the checks at the cash register because my mom couldn’t write English. It didn’t seem weird to me at the time, but I learned so much about work ethic and the importance of family.

Fast forward to law school. I was the first person in my family to become a lawyer. I got a job at a great firm and after 10 years there and making partner, I resigned to work in public service. It was my way of giving back to a state and country that provided so much for my parents and family. I served as a prosecutor at the Arizona Attorney General’s office, and then became general counsel at the Arizona Corporation Commission. Later I moved back into the private sector to work as General Counsel for a private family office, until recently where I had an opportunity to acquire a law firm with some capital partners. Radix Law is now the first traditional, multi-lawyer law firm in the country that is owned by lawyers and non-lawyers. Pretty cool for just a first-generation American kid from Tucson.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My parents had very little formal education. So, unlike most kids, I did not have the ability to seek their help with homework or other educational challenges. But I don’t wish it happened any other way. It taught me resilience and independence. I became fearless about failing. It allowed me to achieve things I never imagined. It also set my goals on the horizon, and to this day, no matter how close I get, I keep chasing another one.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Radix Law?
Radix Law is the first multi-lawyer traditional law firm in the country that is owned by lawyers and non-lawyers. The Arizona Supreme Court approved Radix under this model in 2021, which was part of a sweeping change in the rules of professional conduct that Arizona adopted. Our capital partners now drive resources and relationships to the firm, helping our attorneys grow their practices and allowing them to focus on practicing law and serving their clients. The distractions involved on the “business” side of a law practice are now handled by people that actually know and understand how to run and build companies. We believe relationships are the cornerstone of a good law firm, and with our revolutionary law firm structure, we are able to help our clients succeed in ways they never realized.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Our core practice groups are litigation, estate planning, real estate, family law, and business transactions. We also maintain an active outside general counsel practice.
