Meet Christa Suppe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christa Suppe.

Hi Christa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in documenting “life” and “memories”. I started in High School, blogging about anything and everything and trying to take photos to go along with each post. It was a fun creative outlet that opened the door to the world of documenting.

When I moved into college as a Graphic Design major, I fell in love with Photography. It was a required class and I really took to it. While all of my peers were taking photos of Fashion, I decided to take photos of couples, and families to display as my final project. It was after that, that others started inquiring about me photographing them.

12 years later, I have been working as a Full-Time Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer – working with hundreds of couples and families doing what I have always loved: Documenting Memories!!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth. I found that I didn’t have much experience in the early years. Getting people to trust you with their forever memories when you don’t have a lot of experience is difficult. But I kept working at it. At the time I worked full-time as a Graphic Designer, working 10-hour days, and spending late nights editing my latest sessions.

In 2014 I decided it was time to quit my full-time job and become a full-time photographer. It ended up being a huge blessing. I ended up welcoming my first son into this world in 2015 and being able to work from home was just what I needed in a busy season of growth for me.

Over the years I have learned to manage a business, make my own schedule while taking care of my family all at the same time. It can be a stressful and challenging hat to wear.

12 years later, I still wear this hat, but I have learned from mistakes and found a system that works for me, and developed a trusted and well-known brand that is committed to “Catching Memories” as I like to call it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I, myself, wear a lot of hats. I call myself a Multi-Passionate Creative. My main job, is as I have mentioned, Photography. This helps pay my bills and still serves as a creative outlet for me.

But, myself, as a brand is rather diverse. I am a Photographer, Hand-Letterer, DIYer, and Passionate Faithful Encourager. I have worked with many brands helping create creative content for them, and mentored other photographers as they have ventured into the Photography world.

I also manage a Personal Creative page that I use to create creative home and DIY content and share about my faith and love for God and life.

What sets me apart from others is that I believe being Multi-Passionate isn’t a bad thing. In a world that tells us to find something and stick to it; I believe creatives, like me, should feel encouraged to seek out their creative endeavors. I believe there is a season for all things, and they may not always been when we want them to be, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t or can’t pursue them.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I like to encourage others who are just starting out, whatever they may be starting out in, that you shouldn’t compare yourself to others who have been in any given industry for longer. It can be discouraging and harmful.

If you want to try something – try it. You won’t know whether or not you can do it, unless you try it!

Pursue what you dream of and be patient as you journey through the process.

And also, to be kind to others in the industry. Be an encourager and share what you know with others and help them grow too.
