Today we’d like to introduce you to Telma Sanchez.
Telma, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I should start by saying I was born and raised in Mexico City, in a life very different from the one I live today. The culture, the environment, the family ties, and the friendships I developed are a world and language apart.
These beginnings and the need to adapt provided me with courage, hope, and the guts to do something that is hard, new, and intimidating as I continue to work on myself. I graduated high school from a tiny Charter School in Phoenix, graduated from College from U of A in three years, and started a career in the banking world living a comfortable life. After I had my first child, I decided to become a bilingual life coach because the world I thought I was finally used to changed me yet again.
The moment I met my daughter, I also met new fears, dreams, needs, priorities, all at the same time. I recognized the unfamiliarity inside of me, I had experienced the same shock when we first moved to Boston and I didn’t speak any English. It was the same shock after I left college and caregiving to start a career in banking, the shock when I started working out, when I first moved in with my husband, you get the idea. I went back to what I knew to do and has saved me in the past – Figure out a new normal.
In the process of finding my new normal, I took a lot of parenting and self-development classes. After finishing those classes I would look for more. For the first time in my life, I was studying as hard as I did when I was in college. This time not because I needed to keep a scholarship, pay my bills, or to not disappoint my parents, but because of how fascinating I found the information and results I was experiencing in my own life. I was 30 when I found my passion and felt brave enough to take the leap of faith towards a big change.
This time around, I had more motivation than ever, I was no longer in survival mode, instead, I’m highly motivated by the fact that this world I live in is the same that my daughters will grow up in and they are watching my every move. What better way to raise brave girls than by leading by example. What better way to grow as a person while helping others do the same and creating a community of support.
My mission is to help brave, busy, working parents maximize time in order to gain confidence and control to dominate their lives. Gain a lifestyle that reaches their full unstoppable potential and pushes them outside of the comfort zone that many of us get stuck in.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No big change is ever smooth, in order to unleash our full potential we often have to relearn what that is and how to get there. Growing up many of us were told how to be a good person, how to become successful, and what it takes to get there. The struggle of letting go of others’ expectations is real. Everyone has an opinion on how you should go about your life. Your family, your friends, your culture, the society you grew up in, your job! Etc, etc etc..
Many opinions or words of advice come from great intentions of love, but following expectations without finding your passion limits your own potential and fulfillment. This is the challenge that anyone who is willing to reach their own full potential will face and I still face it often as I hate to disappoint others.
Also, starting a new business is intimidating and scary. Entrepreneurship comes with many different manuals and yet it all falls on the owner’s decisions. I have found myself facing new insecurities I never had to face in the corporate world. I am enjoying the process but it is definitely a challenge especially when I want to stay authentic and have fun in the process.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m grateful and proud to be able to help brave busy working parents maximize time so they can feel productive and energized to be bold so they can unleash their full potential and dominate their lives. I specialize in time management, self-reflection, and accountability. I’m committed to having the hard conversations so more of us can live a life without self-imposed restrictions, become intentional and prioritize self-care and courage to find more fulfillment in our everyday lives.
What sets me apart from others is my story, my personal experience, and how deeply I care to help others. I am also bilingual and connected to two different cultures which have come in very handy.
I am most proud of how much I love watching others reach their full potential and of the community we are building while doing so.
I offer one-on-one coaching programs that are tailored to the needs of each client. I am a huge fan of community building, so I often throw in challenges and will have a group program once or twice a year for those who love to grow alongside others all while having fun because life is too short to not have fun.
How do you define success?
I define success as the moment that you realize you are living your dream life. When you spend your days doing what you love most, when the energy you feel and give to the world is the best quality, when you allow yourself to feel your feelings and work through them without judgment or shame.
When you feel fear but feel capable of figuring things out and go for it anyway! When your eyes shine pure light and joy; and meeting your goals and fulfilling your dreams become your priority.
In short, I define success as the moment in which you are fully aware, you unleash your full potential and happy dance in your power.
