Life & Work with Stefanie Booker Atchison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie Booker Atchison.

Hi Stefanie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Over 25 years ago, I didn’t like the woman staring back at me in the mirror. Back then, I had let the experiences of my life beat me down.

I mean just because I was socially acceptable and gainfully employed with a good-paying job did not mean I was happy. In fact, I was miserable.

By the time I was 30, I had survived so much – sexual abuse as a child, 2 failed marriages, drug addiction, and domestic violence. I didn’t like myself very much. It can get exhausting trying to please everyone else in an effort to reclaim your self-worth. After all, I just wanted to figure out how to be comfortable walking around in my skin and make getting to work on time a normal thing.

I started my path by learning the basics of mediation and mindfulness. Then, I went back to school, studying everything from Metaphysics to Transformational Psychology and almost everything in between.

But learning how to survive life wasn’t enough – I wanted to thrive – to enjoy life, to have a beautiful full existence. I wanted to love myself. So I enriched my education by sitting with shamans, gurus, and great spiritual teachers. I met some amazing people who guided me, gently, towards self-compassion and inner understanding. Thankfully, I learned how to appreciate the ways and the hows of my survival. They helped me forgive myself, uncover my purpose, and realize my dreams. Mostly I am appreciative that I was able to find a way to love myself again.

I knew I had to share what I had learned. So over ten years ago, I decided to build my practice on a life coaching hybrid. I began using my energetics + NLP+ intuitiveness + hypno-coaching together to create a unique experience that could help anyone willing and ready to take a chance and go on their best self-journey.

So that’s what I do; I help people get unstuck and fall in love with being their badass authentic selves.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Resilient Life Guide and Wisdom Coach. I specialize in resiliency and radical self-care and Inner Badassery(tm). Through 1:1s, group sessions, limited workshops and retreats, I design thought-provoking exercises that get you to your inner knowing faster, create more confidence in your everyday doing and foster positive expectancy in you to have the life you can envision.

I think what sets me apart is that I give you tangible tips and action steps to view the perceptions, beliefs and misbeliefs you base your actions on. My process is designed to unlock personal growth and bring blocks and triggers to the surface so the authentic you can break free. I also provide access to metaphysical tools and practices that help you open your perspectives about who you think you are – and redefine what it means to be purpose-full and live on purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy? Oh, I love that question! Happiness is an action word. Being happy is a decision, that makes it an action. What I do to make me happy is a combination of things. I love my friends and the ease in which we talk and support each other. I really love the fact that my adult children can call and talk to me about what’s going on with their lives. I mean I really wish that they would call more often but that’s another story. *laughs

I have a fantabulous relationship that is reciprocal and loving with a partner that I think is the best thing since sliced bread. Often, I don’t understand how I got to be so fortunate as to have them in my life but I’m not gonna let them go. *laughs again.

What makes me really happy is my work. Because I know what it feels like to misbelieve you’re broken and unloveable, I know how blessed I am that I get to witness when I see a client’s lovelight turn back on. What do I mean? Well, when a client gains recognition that what they are dealing with externally, and what they are feeling internally are realistic circumstances in relation to what they’ve experienced, that there’s nothing inherently wrong with them, that they have a perfect right to all of their feelings, they get this look. It’s a mixture of “ah-ha” and relief. They suddenly understand that they are okay and that they, their life, their future could possibly be better. Just that bit of contact and connection to someone that sees them for who they really are, bits of love and stardust, gives them that first bit of belief that they can have it all and the willingness to try to be their own glorious self. And THAT moment gives me joy, every time.

That …and a good foodgasm. 😉
