Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Stutzman.
Hi Heather, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Midwest girl but I’ve claimed the West for most of my adult life! I was born and raised in a small town in Nebraska (population 2000) and went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for both undergrad and grad school. Go Big Red! While I grew up on a farm in what some would say is the middle of nowhere, I was fortunate to travel overseas to India at fifteen. This trip opened my eyes and ignited my love for travel. Once I saw more of the world, I realized I wanted to live my life outside of the Midwest bubble I was raised in.
Post undergrad, I spent years in Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, and now the Phoenix area. Over the past fifteen years, I’ve built my career in sales and marketing while being a part of an amazing corporation. While at the University of Nebraska, I studied Nutrition and Health Sciences but let that passion fall to the side as I began to chase my corporate career aspirations.
Fast forward to 2016. I was living in LA and both mentally and physically burnt out. I struggled immensely with depression and self-worth during this time. I had few friends, spent much time in isolation and, as a result of my lifestyle, gained a solid twenty-five pounds. Some might not think this is much, but it wasn’t just about the weight. It represented so much more. I realized so much of my life was empty and centered around hustling for approval from others without asking what truly fed my soul.
I began working not only on my physical health but focused on improving my mental well-being. As a result, I rediscovered my passion for fitness and obtained my personal trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I took a new role within my corporate career that led to a move back to the Midwest. It also included extensive travel which left little time to focus on fitness and helping others.
Enter 2020. A year many feels was one of their worst. For me, I can truly say it was one of the best. It allowed me to slow down and again reassess what was truly important to me. I knew I wanted to help others not only with their health and fitness goals but to recognize their self-worth. As a result, WW Fit was born. Many don’t know this but WW stands for Worthy Women and, while I do work with men, women are my heart. I want women (and men) to know their incredible value absent of any current circumstance or role they play in life, I want them to feel empowered to relentlessly pursue what feeds their soul while knowing at any moment they can choose to pivot or change their reality. Living with an abundance mentality while recognizing you are capable of anything you set your mind to is truly a game-changer. I lived without this mindset for so long and, once I truly started believing in myself, everything in my life shifted.
WW Fit was launched in May 2020 and offers custom fitness programs, personal training, accountability coaching, and nutrition plans. My focus (and passion) lies in creating custom programs for individuals in order to provide structure to their workouts and help promote consistency, weight loss, and any other goals they may have. I have been fortunate to travel all over the world and, as a result, I work with individuals in India, Kenya, Mexico, and all over the United States. I recently partnered with a nutrition company and now offer High Protein, Low Carb, Detox, and 5 Ingredient nutrition programs.
Because I travel so much both corporately and personally, I’m in the midst of creating the ‘Travel Well Program’ which can be done with minimal equipment while on the road. I’m so excited to see what the future holds for WW Fit and my clients. It’s been an amazing last fifteen months to say the least!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
What is the saying? Anything worth having doesn’t come easy?
It by no means has been easy. During quarantine and throughout 2020, I had the choice to binge on Netflix or pour that time into my business. I spent hours on marketing and business planning, creating graphics and logos, constantly making website edits, etc. When I initially started, I launched a ’12 Week Program’, ‘6 Week Program,’ and a variety of others because I thought they were great. I forgot about Marketing 101-1.) figure out if there’s a need in the market and 2.) if you have a sellable product. I no longer offer either of these programs because the need wasn’t there. So I’ve already pivoted several times and have recognized that individuals want a program customized to them and their lifestyle. Thus the Semi and Fully Custom Programs were born.
The area in which I’ve struggled most is social media. It is such a helpful tool but not my forte. I’m not great with technology so understanding content creation, social media algorithms, and promoting my business in that way has not been easy. I’m lucky to have some amazing people helping me with branding, website content, and marketing. I’d rather spend my time investing in further education for myself while working to create amazing programs for clients in order to coach them towards their healthiest lifestyle!
We’ve been impressed with WW Fit, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Mission: Educate. Empower. Evolve. Those three pillars embody the mission of WW Fit.
Values: Three values define WW Fit: 1.) Discipline over Motivation, 2.) Simple yet Effective, 3.) Individual Bodies, Individual Goals.
Brand Goals: WW Fit was created to teach fitness principals while empowering individuals to take charge of their health. WW Fit offers Custom Fitness Programs, Personal Training (in person and virtual), Accountability Coaching, and Nutrition Plans.
WW Fit is most known for its custom programs. Custom programs are just that customized to one’s lifestyle and goals. My passion lies in understanding human movement and biomechanics and the importance of exercise selection and design. I continue to further my education in this area and most recently have become DBC Level 1 Certified. This certification was designed by the owners of DBC Miami who have worked extensively with many high-profile professional and collegiate athletes. This area of focus sets WW Fit and its programs apart from other quick challenges or routines you may find on the internet/social media.
I love building individualized programs for men and women based on their goals and lifestyle. I have worked with clients ages 21-67 and created intense gym routines for former athletes as well as home-based beginner routines for clients new to strength training or recovering from injuries. I hold a Weight Loss Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and work with many individuals wanting to lose significant amounts of weight (50+ lbs).
I want readers to know that while WW Fit focuses on fitness, its mission is for individuals to feel empowered and inspired to make changes in all areas of their life while pursuing what makes them happiest. Feeling and looking good physically is just the bonus to a lifestyle and mindset transformation.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Of all of the places I’ve lived on the West Coast, Phoenix is the closest to ‘home’ in terms of how friendly everyone is. I always joke it’s like home but bigger. I love the smaller city feel while having so many options for dining, entertainment, etc. I love the hiking (when it’s not 110 degrees) and I have met some of the BEST people here so far.
Honestly, there’s not a like to dislike. It’s truly the one place I’ve lived in my adult life that feels right and like I belong. If I had to choose anything, it’s probably the insane heat, well really only during monsoon season. I can do without humidity.
