Meet Veronica Leon of Macaroni KID Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Leon.

Hi Veronica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Small Business Owner and SAHM, Editor-Publisher of Macaroni Kid North Scottsdale-PV and S Scottsdale-Arcadia. I have spent my time volunteering for many organizations and generously giving my time in need. I have held positions as the VP Compliance/Secretary for National Society of Hispanic MBAS (NSHMBA). NSHMBA was created in 1988 as a non-profit organization to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development. I was also a member of eLatina Voices, an electronic forum connecting Latinas interested in economic, politcal and social issues.

In July 2010, AGUILA Youth Leadership Institute, awarded her with a recognition of her valuable contribution to the 2010 Latino Lider and in September 2006, Valle Del Sol, awareded her with their Profiles of Success award.

When I became a mom in 2011, I got involved and held many positions within International MOMS Club and got more involved in my community. When looking for things to do I came across Macaroni KID and their fun filled calendar of events, which helped me find and schedule fun things to do with out moms club.
In 2014 the local publisher was hiring an Assistant to help with the publication and I jumped on it. I love everything about Macaroni KID and have been part of this community of publishers since. I love connecting with my Scottsdale community, working with small businesses and helping families find their family fun. It’s more than providing marketing and advertising services, it’s being able to provide Scottsdale families all the resources, services and fun there is to offer. Just a local mom of two with a passion for promoting all things Scottsdale and making strategic connections for small business owners.
My publication reaches over 10k local subscribers and I provide my readers a variety of articles, local business information, giveaways, guides and more to help make their planning easier.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a small business and local publication has its challenges but nothing is impossible. I can consider myself lucky that running Macaroni KID Scottsdale has been a smooth ride and having the great connections have helped my business grow but most importantly I have enjoyed getting out and meeting small business owners and my community.
