Meet Michelle Witzel of Century Health Care NP in West Valley and Surprise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Witzel.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My name is Michelle Witzel, and I am an Adult Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). I was born and raised in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Early in my life, I felt a calling to serve others through nursing. I utilized my love for learning and my desire to help people and advanced in the nursing field from a Certified Nursing Assistant to a Licensed Practical Nurse to a Registered Nurse to an Adult Nurse Practitioner. I received my Associate’s degree in Nursing from Mohave Community College, my Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Northern Arizona University, and my Master’s degree in Nursing from Spring Arbor University.

My professional experience includes floor nurse and charge nurse at skilled nursing facilities, case manager and director of nursing for home health agencies, director of assisted living, and Certified Oncology/Chemotherapy nurse. I enjoyed bedside nursing but overall I found that my favorite nursing settings were in home health and oncology. These areas of nursing permitted one-on-one time with patients where I was able to educate them and make them the priority. This is truly the foundation for creating healthier, happier patients.

There is only one thing more fulfilling than obtaining new, better, or more advanced knowledge; and that is applying it to educate, help, and heal others. I feel that being a nurse practitioner not only requires a vast knowledge base, but also the commitment and dedication for ongoing care and further education. As the owner of Century Health Care NP, I feel that I can combine my experience and passion to truly help people feel better!

Has it been a smooth road?
I believe we all go through challenges, some are easier than others. I have struggled, but always found a way to persevere in tough times.

Philosophy At Century Health Care, we feel that the patient should come first, the relationship between provider and patient should be meaningful and lasting, and that the government and the insurance companies have no place dictating how this relationship takes place. Spending the time to get to know our patients allow for fewer trips to specialists, more comprehensive care in the house, and a better overall standard of care. We take pride in what we do and how we treat patients. Providers are available for phone calls, secured email consults, and house calls to accommodate those in need and to eliminate excessive office visits simply to generate revenue. Century Health Care operates based on a Direct Primary Care Model, which means that we do not accept insurance, and therefore, office visits, for primary care patients, cosmetic services, infusions, or weight loss management programs are provided for reasonable monthly memberships.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Surprise has a lot of challenges, but the potential is there to grow. If I could start all over again yes I would still open my business here. There is currently no one on the west valley offering my services. I love the city that I am apart of.
