Meet Andrea Pass of Andrea Pass Public Relations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Pass.

Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was always the public relations chairperson of committees in high school and college — writing press releases, securing media coverage, arranging interviews, and more. When I graduated from college, I thought I would become a broadcast journalist, but I was being pulled towards PR. I served in media relations at the CBS Radio Division in New York City and continued to love PR. I even interviewed to be one of Dan Rather’s assistants on the “CBS Evening News” and, when I received a call back for a second interview, realized that I wanted to stay in public relations. From there, my career took off.

I began working for a variety of New York/Metro area public relations firms and grew to become the Vice President of Media Relations. My expertise in securing press coverage resulted in clients increasing business, product, service, book, and non-profit awareness and sales.

Landing television placements proved to be one of my strengths. I would pitch segment suggestions and work hand-in-hand with producers to coordinate appropriate TV coverage to include my clients. I created appropriate message points and worked to media train those client spokespeople to be effective communicators on broadcast pieces. Being on-site and in-studio with clients was always exhilarating — knowing that target audiences were learning about my clients and having that opportunity to be educated by my clients was the goal and that goal was being achieved.

Print newspaper and magazine coverage as well as growing blogs, podcasts, and video opportunities have always rounded out my PR efforts.

I eventually worked for a Los Angeles-based firm remotely and secured not only additional press coverage as Vice President of Media Relations, but grew the agency’s client base. Then, the time came for me to branch out on my own.

Andrea Pass Public Relations was formed in 2018 and I’ve never been happier. I love being a solopreneur and working with business, consumer, product, lifestyle, health/wellness, non-profit, fiction, and non-fiction author clients.

While it is said that “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life,” it is a mantra I stand by. Andrea Pass Public Relations continues to provide press coverage services to grow brand awareness and drive sales.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Establishing and maintaining Andrea Pass Public Relations has been a dream come true. While some businesses might have struggled during the pandemic, my long-term and new relationships resulted in an increased and steady client base.

My two-word mantra has always been “relationships matter.”

I have always networked and stayed in touch with contacts.

The challenge is that businesses are oftentimes eliminating public relations from their marketing budgets which is, obviously, a huge mistake, Public Relations is affordable, especially when working with a solopreneur practice such as Andrea Pass Public Relations.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
WHY DO YOU NEED PR? So that potential clients/customers/buyers learn about your business, product, book, non-profit, etc. via press coverage.

Have you Googled your business lately? What is in the news? Is your business even in the news? What about your competition? If your competition is in the press, that is reason enough why you need public relations.

WHY ANDREA PASS PUBLIC RELATIONS:

You are ready to begin PR outreach. Other firms spend weeks over-analyzing, writing materials, and conducting meetings — time that you are paying for.

I dive right in. Over-planned strategy documents are oftentimes outdated the minute they are sent to the client. I begin working immediately after speaking with the client, securing business/product/book background information, spokesperson biography/headshot, and general news information.

Then, it’s off and running.

Clients secure interviews and press interest within mere days. Requests for statements happen quickly. Quotes are provided. Product or book samples are distributed and media coverage happens.

I take the time to help clients prepare to message so that the most effective presentation of your business is communicated to the journalist/producer/host.

I take the time to educate your social media team as to the most effective way to make sure of the press placements. In fact, I recommend that a client post earned media coverage on social media when the interview/story appears and again in a few weeks and again in a few months, and so on and so on. Press appearances are not a one-and-done. They provide valuable content on an ongoing basis to demonstrate to the buying public that you and your business are important enough to be featured in the media.

Other firms spend hours and hours with meetings. I get the job done without taking up valuable time with unnecessary meetings. I effectively communicate media opportunities via email so that interviews are booked, products or books distributed and goals are met.

Furthermore, Andrea Pass Public Relations thinks beyond the basics. She suggests awards competitions. Provides information on varying demographic audiences to target decision-makers in ways that clients did not think to target those potential clients/customers. I create giveaways and content to grow brand awareness. I work with you and your team on trade shows and event support.

I am an expert at securing press coverage to directly reach current and future customers/clients to learn more about your business, product, service, book, etc., and to influence those buying decisions. Via long-term and new relationships with journalists and other media contacts, Andrea Pass Public Relations solidifies interviews, reviews, and content in the press to increase brand awareness and drive sales. I communicate effectively with your social media team to make appropriate recommendations to share media coverage on your social media pages to increase touchpoints. By using press coverage as digital content, clients see an increase in traffic as a result of articles, interviews, reviews, and company mentions. Furthermore, key media coverage can be shared via client newsletters, blogs, and website coverage highlighting “As Seen in The News.” Media Relations increase credibility.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always involved — in family, friends, and organizations. Getting on my bicycle and connecting with others was important to me as was learning and laughing.

From Student Council/Student Government to musical theatre to sorority and other groups, I always had room for one more thing. I guess the saying is true — ask a busy person — a busy person can always add another item to the schedule.
