Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Burton.
Ashley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Southside Chicago. When I was in college, I was broke like any other college student. I started doing hair so it would help me out. Then after awhile, people loved the sewins and wigs that I would make for them. I started building a clientele after that because of the positive feedback. When I came to Arizona, I continued to do hair as well as making my own website. I had this idea of a place that you could buy luxury extensions or wigs, and FEEL them before you get them installed. So, that is exactly what I did. I am a Black owned business that is self funded and put my blood, sweat and tears into what is now known as HAIR HEAVEN BOUTIQUE. Hair Heaven Boutique has a full wall of hair. Brazilian, Peruvian, Malaysian and Cambodian. Within those 4 walls, we have 6 different wave patterns. Even with all of that, we have Closures and Frontals to go along with each wave pattern. At Hair Heaven Boutique, we promote hair growth as well. With that being said I also created my own Natural Hair Oil and Edge Control as well. Sew Ins and extensions are being known to be for black woman. But when in fact we cater and encourage all Ethnicities. The main goal which also relates to the motto we have at Hair Heaven Boutique is “We make you beautiful on the outside to match the beauty that’s on the inside.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing has been easy in my life. But I ALWAYS found a way to figure it out. I have a couple of people behind me that support me in my goals. That was really all I needed. Just that support alone made me strive to become better than yesterday. Being self- funded was the hardest part for me. Usually, business starts out with a loan, but I did not want to pay anybody back. I will work hard until I get it. Never stop till I do.
Hair Heaven Boutique – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Hair Heaven Boutique is a Black Owned luxury Extensions boutique. We sell over 6 different wave patterns along with 3 different grades of hair. Common wave patterns are Silky Straight, Body wave, Deep wave, Water wave, Kinky Straight, Kinky curly, Loose wave. All the wave patterns are separated into 4 different categories, Brazilian, Peruvian, Malaysian and Cambodian. The hair ranges from 10’- 40’. Along with that, we sell handmade wigs.
We also sell our own Organic Hair Oil and Edge Control “Edges of an Angel”.
I personally specialize in Full sew ins, Closure sewins, and Frontal Sewins. I have been doing them for so long I cant choose a favorite. I like doing them all. My goal is to make it look as natural as possible and that is what I have done.
I would say that I am known for a clean, completely sewn down look with my trademarked feathered look.
What I am most proud of as a company is that I started from a building that had holes in the wall, different paint on the walls and all this was on the second floor. I turned Hair Heaven Boutique into a safe place where you can come get your hair, makeup, eyebrows and more done along with having that feeling that you are among friends and family.
I think what sets Hair Heaven Boutique apart from others is that we are giving you the best quality and quantity at affordable prices. And you mix that with a family vibe and you have Hair Heaven Boutique.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment would have to be… saying that I own Hair Heaven Boutique and knowing there are more Hair Heaven Boutique locations coming soon.
