Maurice Watson Jr on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Maurice Watson Jr and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Maurice, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity. I’m a firm believer that integrity is what builds trust, dependability, and a strong sense of character in any path your stepping into.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Maurice Watson Jr. I’m 22 years old from Beaufort, South Carolina that now resides in Sierra Vista, Arizona I’m so happened to be a photographer, videographer, podcaster, and artist manager, and owner and founder of Real Raw Authentic (RRA) Productions that focuses and prioritizes storytelling and purpose driven content that motivates, inspire, and entertain audiences. I moved to Arizona a year after I graduated from Battery Creek high school to pursue my dream and aspirations to become an entrepreneur, my story is that where I come from didn’t had a lot of opportunities and my spirit told me to not settle so I had to create my own opportunities which change my life for the better. As far as right now I’m currently managing and sponsoring a Christian hip hop artist named Selym hailing from Tucson Arizona, and staying busy with other photo and video shoots and projects

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child what i believed at the time was that the only ways to be successful in life was either go in the military or stick too sports, but the truth is, is that there are multiple ways to be successful, you don’t have to confine yourself to what the world gives you, you can pave your own way, and in your own style. You don’t have to settle down for what’s available, you can be anything you want to be in life because it’s your life, your location doesn’t determine your destination.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Having too persevere, and understanding that too much is given is much required.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version is the real me, the good and the not so good. What I always believe is that It’s better to be yourself than to be something you’re not. Everyone else is taken so just be the best version of yourself in all aspects

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I did everything I could in a situation that’s been given too me, professionally and personally, but also at peace when I’m surrounded by those around me that cares and loves and supports me.
