Hi Viri, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I created ICONIC BY VIRI after moving to a home on the golf course. I quickly realized the lack of attractive and timeless apparel for women; that was when I thought about creating a brand that would provide a young and refreshing look for all the girls out in the course. I knew I could create something special, and that was when I decided this was big enough for me. I wanted to dedicate my time and energy to my brand. I quickly understood that an entrepreneurial mindset was more important than owning a business. I love finding a way of making things happen, and I enjoy generating ideas and income on my own terms.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Rejections are the biggest hurdles. While rejection is hard, how an entrepreneur responds to it is way more important. When I first received my samples, I proudly took them to my mentor, Scott. He looked at my product and said, “You can do better.” I knew it wasn’t personal, but it was an overwhelming response because I have experienced repeated success in most other areas. I poured my passion and effort into my samples, which needed improvement. My confidence and optimism allowed me to return to the drawing board and try harder. This was a powerful learning opportunity for me. I created something bigger, something better. Looking back now, I firmly believe that if I had moved forward with my initial samples, I would be elsewhere.

I own a clothing brand business; my brand is golf-inspired activewear. While they are all golf-inspired, they are perfect for all women who want active and appealing pieces that look great and feel comfortable on the golf course while playing tennis or running errands. ICONIC BY VIRI is known for its unique Skorts that come in neutral colors and stylish looks. Our look is young and refreshing, which makes it very different from some of the current golf clothing brands you would find elsewhere. A new generation is on the golf course, and it’s time to dress like it. Since golf can sometimes drag on for several hours and in different weather situations, the functionality of the clothing is particularly important. Wearing comfort plays a major role. For this purpose, I’m incredibly proud of my brand for providing the maximum comfort and confidence for all my girls in ICONIC BY VIRI.
Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
Having a mentor is a must! This person typically has experienced the challenges you’re facing as you start or grow your business and can offer valuable insight, guidance, advice, and a fresh perspective based on that experience. Mentors are a dime a dozen, but a good mentor will take some time. You must find someone willing to invest their time and effort in you. It’s hard to build a business, but it’s harder to maintain and drive it forward. It requires management skills, including communicating, planning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. A good mentor can help you develop these skills if you haven’t mastered them. I will forever acknowledge everything Scott (my mentor) has helped me overcome. He’s been more than a mentor and a guide – He helped my idea come alive. He encouraged me to dig deep into myself and stand out in all my creations. We don’t always know everything, and that’s okay. It’s okay to ask for help; It will go a long way.
