Meet Jaime Louise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Louise.

Jaime, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was a very imaginative child, introverted, and quiet unless I knew the people I was with. I had a driving need to express myself and started writing at a young age. As far back as I can remember, even in elementary school, I always carried notebooks to write in with me everywhere I went. The more I wrote, the easier the words came.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I took different paths, but every life experience always brought me back to my writing. I have been in positions where I was undervalued, unappreciated, and overworked. These experiences have been my greatest teachers for a life that I do not want and make me strive harder for one that I do. The only time that I can remember not writing, is when all of my notebooks and stories were tossed out. It felt like a part of my soul was thrown out with them and I mourned the loss of those notebooks for a couple of years. I started writing again one day when the stress at work had become so overwhelming it was like I was standing on the edge of a cliff. At the time, I was working long hours of overtime and only had one day off. And on that day off, I volunteered at a wildlife center. A work buddy of mine had committed suicide. And the drive for the writing came. I did not have free time to write except in the mornings. And I wrote about a world I wanted to live in and finished my first novel in a year. Since then, I have written two other novels and a short story.

Please tell us more about your work. I write romantic fantasy novels. I like to write about worlds that are full of chaos and in the middle of that, there is something beautiful happening between two people. My background is in science. I incorporate this into my stories and focus on ideas or questions that I am interested in. But, I am interested in unusual topics. The what if’s. What if mermaids were real? What if true love can last through several lifetimes? What if time travel or reincarnation were possible? These ideas are introduced in my BETWEEN LIVES SERIES set of novels.

What were you like growing up? Personality-wise, interest wise, etc. I grew up with an older brother in an all-boy neighborhood and all the kids always gathered at our house. I played with a Portuguese boy who lived next door and a girl who finally moved into the neighborhood when I was eight or nine. I went to a lot of different schools. In high school, I met an outgoing girl who brought out my personality. We went on many adventures and I wrote about these.
