Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Brown.
Hi Taylor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been working as a chef for the past 8 years, and my path really started long before that. I grew up in Louisiana around farming, where food wasn’t just something you ate, it was something you grew, preserved, and shared. That foundation stayed with me and shaped how I see ingredients and cooking to this day.
When I moved to Arizona, I brought that same farm-rooted mindset with me and blended it with my professional kitchen experience. Over time, I wanted to create something that connected food, education, and creativity, especially for kids. That’s what led me to write and publish my kids’ coloring cookbook, Cook, Color, Create!, under my business, 582 Farms.
Through 582 Farms, I’ve expanded into homegrown seasoning blends, tea mixes, kimchi, oil of oregano, and fresh produce. Everything I create ties back to that original idea of using real, intentional ingredients and sharing food knowledge in a way that feels approachable, fun, and meaningful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest learning experiences for me came early on when I got my products into two stores in the mall. At first, it felt like a major win, but over time I realized the opportunity wasn’t as strong as it seemed. The foot traffic and fit weren’t right for my brand, and my sales were consistently low. It was a tough decision, but I ultimately chose to pull my products out and step back.
Another challenge for me has been my own pace of creativity. I tend to get an idea and jump into it quickly without always taking enough time to fully develop it or refine the process. Over time, I’ve learned that slowing down, honing the craft, and being more intentional with execution is just as important as having the idea itself.
Those experiences have helped me grow a lot as both a chef and a business owner, and they’ve shaped how I approach 582 Farms today with more patience, planning, and purpose behind everything I create.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
582 Farms is a small, hands-on food and wellness brand built around homegrown, intentional ingredients and education through food. I specialize in creating zero sodium, zero sugar seasoning blends, homegrown loose leaf tea blends, fresh-made kimchi, and homemade oil of oregano. Everything is crafted in small batches with a focus on clean, real ingredients and bold, natural flavor.
What really sets my brand apart is that I grow a large portion of what I use myself right here in El Mirage, Arizona. I grow year-round using both indoor and outdoor methods, which allows me to stay closely connected to the full process, from seed to finished product. That level of control and care is something I take a lot of pride in.
I’m also proud of my interactive kids coloring cookbook, Cook, Color, Create!, which combines food, creativity, and learning in a way that makes cooking approachable and fun for families. It reflects the heart of my brand, making food education engaging while keeping things simple, natural, and real.
At its core, 582 Farms is about transparency, wellness, and reconnecting people to where their food comes from. Whether it’s through seasonings, teas, fermented foods, or educational tools, everything I create is designed to be clean, purposeful, and rooted in real growing and real cooking.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
