Today we’d like to introduce you to Betsy Klein.
Hi Betsy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My path hasn’t been linear. It’s really been an evolution shaped by purpose, awareness, and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and spent many years building businesses, but at a certain point, I began to feel drawn to something deeper. That shift began through my advocacy work focused on protecting wolves. What started as a passion quickly grew into significant advocacy efforts, and that experience opened my eyes to the disconnect between what we say we care about and how we actually live. It changed how I saw my role in the world and how I wanted to use my voice.
From there, things unfolded in ways I didn’t expect. I found myself moving into fashion, but not in the traditional sense. I began to see style as a powerful tool for confidence and empowerment. When a woman feels confident, she shows up differently. She takes risks, uses her voice, and steps more fully into who she is becoming.
That perspective led to the creation of The Closet Concierge. While it may look like a fashion business on the surface, it’s really about helping women reconnect with themselves. Confidence becomes the catalyst. Style becomes the tool. And from there, purpose naturally follows. Sustainability is also part of that conversation, because once awareness grows, choices begin to shift.
Where I am today feels like a continuation of that evolution. My work, whether through advocacy or empowering women through confidence and style, is rooted in the same belief: when people become more aware and confident, they begin to live with greater intention and purpose.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think that’s true for anyone building something meaningful.
Much of what I’ve done has been without a clear roadmap. I’ve had to figure things out as I went, take risks without knowing the outcome, and trust instincts that didn’t always make sense on paper. There were moments of real uncertainty, times where things didn’t work, and times where I questioned myself and the direction I was heading.
But those experiences turned out to be among the most important. They forced me to become more resilient, more self-aware, and more confident in my ability to keep moving forward even when the path wasn’t clear.
What I’ve learned is that growth rarely looks linear. There are seasons where everything feels aligned and others where it feels like you are starting over. The key has been continuing to show up, even in those uncertain moments, and trusting that each step is shaping something bigger.
If something is truly connected to your purpose, you don’t walk away from it. You may pivot, you may redefine it, but you keep going. And every time you fall and get back up, you build confidence. That confidence is what allows you to keep evolving.
Now I see the entire journey, the wins, the setbacks, and the unknowns, as part of the same experience. All of it has shaped how I move forward today, with greater clarity, confidence, and intention, which is ultimately the same resilience and empowerment I hope to help other women discover in themselves.
We’ve been impressed with The Closet Concierge, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Closet Concierge is, on the surface, a curated styling and consignment experience, but at its core, it is about something much deeper.
I always say we are not selling clothes, we are selling confidence.
When a woman feels confident in how she shows up, everything shifts. She becomes more empowered, more willing to take risks, and more resilient when things do not go as planned. That confidence allows her to step into her life in a bigger way, to be seen, to use her voice, and to move through the world with intention.
What I do is help women reconnect with that version of themselves. Sometimes that starts with their wardrobe, editing what they already own, sourcing pieces more thoughtfully, or helping them see themselves differently. But it is never just about the clothing. It is about bringing out the confidence and beauty that is already there.
What also sets The Closet Concierge apart is its sustainability and intention lens. Everything we do is curated, whether it is giving pre-loved pieces a second life or helping women consume more consciously. It is not about excess; it is about alignment. When women begin to feel confident in themselves, they naturally make more thoughtful choices in how they live, shop, and show up.
What I am most proud of is that this has become more than a boutique or styling service. It is a space where women feel seen, supported, and reminded of who they are. A place where style becomes a tool not just for looking good, but for feeling strong, capable, and fully themselves.
At the end of the day, if a woman walks out feeling more confident than when she walked in, then we have done exactly what we are here to do.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve been fortunate to have a few important influences along the way, even though much of my path has required figuring things out on my own.
My mother has always been one of my biggest supporters. She encouraged me to trust my instincts, pursue what mattered to me, and continue evolving. Today, she often tells me that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, and that kind of belief has stayed with me throughout my journey.
Early in my career, I also worked for a woman at an advertising agency who had a profound impact on me. She was tough, the expectations were high, and the work was demanding, but the experience was invaluable. She threw us into real-world situations as young account executives, an experience that would have taken years elsewhere. It was there that I learned how to navigate clients, strategy, personalities, and competing priorities. That environment shaped many of the skills I rely on today, including communication, diplomacy, creativity, and strategic thinking.
In my advocacy work, I’ve also had mentors who were generous with their time and perspective. They offered guidance and advice, but importantly, they allowed me to find my own way. That balance helped me grow in confidence and develop my own voice.
While I’ve had support along the way, much of my journey has required independence. I’ve often had to trust my instincts, take risks, and learn through experience. In many ways, that has shaped who I am today and reinforced my belief that confidence is built by stepping into the unknown and continuing to move forward.
