Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Voss.
Hi Stacey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Voss Visuals because photography has always felt like home to me. I grew up in Iowa where life was simple, a little untamed, and deeply rooted in family. We took photos of everything and waited for the film to be developed, passing prints around the kitchen table and reliving the moment all over again. Even then I loved studying those old photos and the feeling that a single frame could hold so much life. Today I still use some of my grandma’s old film cameras, the same ones that captured many of those memories. That connection reminds me why I do this. I am drawn to authenticity, real people, and the beauty of untamed places. Maybe people will not always hold the photos I take in their hands, but the moments still get to stand still.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, this is probably a little unfair to say but it has probably been a little too smooth of a road for me. So much so that my only struggle has truly been that my business took off before I was truly ready. I truly started it as a hobby but then bookings started happening quickly so everything had to happen in reverse. After a few shoots, I thought to myself, “maybe I need a website and an LLC?”. I guess another struggle would be feeling like I am behind other photographers since I am self taught, leaving me feeling inadequate.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer, I shoot anything from weddings to branding sessions, maternity to the everyday moments that make up a life. I photograph people and nature as they are.

It’s an oldie but a goodie and anytime I am feeling uninspired I pick it up; Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
