Exploring Life & Business with Taylor McIntyre of The Nature of Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor McIntyre.

Taylor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been fascinated with physiology, science, and nutrition for as long as I can remember. Even as a child, I was drawn to understanding how the body works and how it heals. I remember reading books on natural healing and nutrition when I was only nine years old. I grew up surrounded by natural healing philosophies and unique approaches to chiropractic care, which shaped the way I see health today-looking at the body as an interconnected system rather than focusing on isolated symptoms.

When my husband and I met, he quickly realized how passionate I was about helping people. While his work didn’t involve direct patient care, he always told me how fulfilling it felt to support what I was doing. In the early years of our marriage, life naturally shifted toward building our family and laying the foundation for the future we envisioned. We are very nature-loving people, and that influence shows up everywhere in our lives—even in our children’s names: Meadow, Fawn, and River.

As I began transitioning back into my career, we quickly saw how much people were craving a more thoughtful and comprehensive approach to healthcare. Patients needed time, space, and a true whole-body perspective. When the opportunity arose to open my own practice—much sooner than we expected—we decided to take the leap. I opened my doors with no advertising and no existing patient base, yet within three months my schedule was completely full. That response confirmed for us that people were truly seeking this kind of care.

Seeing that growth, my husband encouraged us to dream even bigger. He found the building that would eventually become our home base and played a huge role in helping bring our vision into reality. From there, our brainstorming took off as we began designing a space that felt restorative, intentional, and deeply connected to nature.

With the amount of stress modern life places on people, we believe it’s more important than ever to reconnect with that natural rhythm of healing. Since many people don’t always have the time to escape into nature, we decided to bring that experience to them. Today, our practice integrates chiropractic care, physical medicine modalities, recovery services, and functional wellness support. We are also expanding our medical services to help optimize hormones and provide additional support for patients who need it. Most importantly, we’ve built a place where patients are treated like family-where they feel seen, supported, and empowered in their health journey. Our vision has always been to create a space where people can heal in a way that honors the whole person.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most things worth building, it definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Opening a business is challenging in general, but opening a healthcare practice comes with its own unique set of complexities. Neither my husband nor I went to school for business development or commercial construction, so much of the process involved learning as we went.

Purchasing our building alone was an adventure. From navigating the loan process to permits, build-out decisions, and financial planning, there were countless moving pieces and important decisions along the way. Throughout that process, my husband really stepped into the role of navigating the business strategy and logistics, while I focused on bringing patients in, providing care, and building the clinical framework and vision for what our practice would become.

That balance has been one of our greatest strengths. We each bring different skill sets to the table, and together we’ve been able to build something that neither of us could have done alone. Our kids have also been part of the journey in their own way-they see the work that goes into building something meaningful and are always eager to help wherever they can.

Like any big endeavor, there have been both ups and downs, but we are incredibly proud of what we’re creating and what it will provide for our community. We’re equally proud of the teamwork within our family and what we’ve been able to accomplish together in such a short amount of time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our practice was built around a simple belief: healthcare should be intentional, never rushed, and delivered in the right environment. We wanted to create a place where patients feel truly cared for and where the focus is on meaningful, long-term results rather than quick visits or symptom management.

Unlike many high-volume, insurance-driven clinics, we provide longer, focused appointments that allow us to fully evaluate and treat the whole body. Our care integrates chiropractic, soft tissue therapy, advanced rehabilitation technologies, and modern recovery modalities, all thoughtfully coordinated to support healing and performance.

Operating as a cash-based practice allows us to do things differently. We’re able to spend meaningful time with each patient, provide hands-on personalized care, and utilize specialized rehabilitation and recovery technologies that aren’t commonly available in traditional clinics. Most importantly, it allows us to design care plans based on the patient’s goals rather than insurance limitations.

One of the questions we hear often is whether we are a spa or a chiropractic office. The answer is that we intentionally bridge those worlds. We are first and foremost a chiropractic and wellness center rooted in clinical expertise, but we’ve created a recovery-focused environment that supports the body’s ability to heal. Patients may receive professional chiropractic care, decompression, and soft tissue therapy while also having access to recovery tools like infrared sauna, cold plunge, red light therapy, and other wellness technologies.

We care for families, athletes, and professionals who value a comprehensive, whole-body approach to health and performance. Many athletes come to us not only for injury recovery but also to optimize mobility, strength, and resilience so they can perform at a higher level and stay active long term. At the same time, we work closely with women through pregnancy and postpartum, helping support the body through the physical changes of motherhood while restoring stability, alignment, and strength after birth. We also provide gentle, developmentally appropriate chiropractic care for infants and children, tailoring each visit to their stage of nervous system development and individual needs.

From a brand perspective, what we’re most proud of is the environment and experience we’ve created. Our goal has always been to build something that feels different from the moment someone walks through the door – a space where patients feel welcomed, unrushed, and supported like family while receiving truly high-level care.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is how to find peace in the middle of chaos. Building a business, raising a family, and creating something meaningful all at the same time comes with a steep learning curve and a lot of moving parts. There are constantly decisions to make, challenges to navigate, and responsibilities to balance.

Over time, I’ve realized that you can’t control everything, and learning to let go of that need has been incredibly grounding. Instead, I’ve learned to stay centered, even when things around me feel busy or uncertain. My family plays a huge role in that. They are my grounding point and a constant reminder of what truly matters.

When you can stay anchored to that perspective, the chaos of building something new becomes much easier to navigate. The challenges don’t disappear, but they feel more manageable, and you’re able to keep moving forward with clarity and purpose.
