Meet Taylor Janulewicz of My Cancer Dietitian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Janulewicz.

Taylor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started as a clinical oncology dietitian, working day in and day out with people navigating the hardest season of their lives: cancer treatment. While I was honored to support them, I kept seeing a huge gap. There simply weren’t enough specialized dietitians to go around, and patients were overwhelmed, misinformed, and often unsupported with their nutrition.

So I built my own business to change that. It started as a side hustle with a big mission: to make high-quality, compassionate nutrition care more accessible to those in active treatment. Along the way, I realized my work was about more than just food. It was about helping people feel human again in a very clinical world. Now, I run a business that blends practical oncology nutrition, emotional support, and real-life strategies to help people feel empowered, not lost, during cancer care.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and honestly, I’m grateful for that.

I grew up struggling in school. I was the kid who fell behind and couldn’t quite keep up. A guidance counselor once told my mom that I probably wouldn’t amount to much, that not everyone was meant for college, and maybe I should just plan on flipping burgers. But my mom didn’t accept that. She believed in me when others didn’t, and she made sure I had the support to go to college if I wanted to. That moment planted a seed. I learned early on that someone else’s opinion doesn’t get to define your future.

Later, as an oncology dietitian, I found myself up against another system that was stretched thin. I was one of the only dietitians for thousands of patients, and it was heartbreaking to see people go without the care they needed. Some patients were frustrated and even angry that they had to wait over a month just to see me. On top of that, I carried the emotional weight of losing patients—sometimes ones I had worked with for months. You don’t forget their stories. You don’t forget their faces.

The burnout was real. So was the heartbreak. And it eventually became clear that I couldn’t keep doing things the way they’d always been done. I needed to build something different, something more personal, more accessible, and more human.

Starting a business in a field that’s not traditionally entrepreneurial has been anything but easy. I’ve had to navigate the loneliness of entrepreneurship, the self-doubt that creeps in when you’re doing something unconventional, and the emotional fatigue that comes with loving your work so deeply.

But I know what it’s like to be underestimated. And I know what it’s like to want more for the people you serve. Those two things keep me going, even when the road is anything but smooth.

We’ve been impressed with My Cancer Dietitian, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business was built to fill a gap I saw every day in cancer care — access to specialized, compassionate, and practical nutrition support during treatment, survivorship, or for those who want to reduce their risk. I work with clients navigating these stages, helping them manage side effects, improve well-being, and feel more confident with their nutrition.

Through my virtual services and group programs, I support clients in managing symptoms like nausea or loss of appetite while boosting their energy, strength, and overall health. It’s not just about what to eat. It’s about helping people feel more human in seasons where so much feels out of their control.

What sets my brand apart is the emotional intelligence behind it. I don’t just give meal plans or bland advice. I listen, I hold space, and I understand the lived experience of cancer from both the science and the soul. I’ve built a holistic and practical approach that blends clinical knowledge with real-life strategy and empathy.

I’m most proud that my business is helping clients feel seen, supported, and empowered, not treated like a number. Whether it is through my signature program, one-on-one consults, or the free resources I share, everything I do is designed to be both deeply helpful and emotionally attuned.

What I want readers to know is this: You don’t have to navigate cancer nutrition alone. My brand exists to be your calm in the chaos, your go-to expert, and your support system when food feels like just one more battle.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time outdoors with my family. Whether it was exploring nearby parks, going on little adventures, or just playing outside until the sun went down, those moments were full of laughter and simple joy. It taught me to appreciate the small things and find peace in nature—something that still grounds me today, especially during challenging times.
