Conversations with Alpha Skywalker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alpha Skywalker.

Alpha Skywalker

Hi Alpha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have been writing music my whole life, and when I was 15, I started a group with a few friends, and we bought a mic and began making music. We wanted to be different, so we chose not to use profanity in our music and to put out content with a message. Over a decade later, I’ve fallen into my artistry and still create meaningful content, whether through my music, social media content, or clothing line Abstrakt Reality. I want to change the negatives of our culture, and the world we have been conditioned into believing is completely normal. I’m here to destroy the status quo.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have dealt with much criticism that I don’t make the typical “rap music” or music that people “want to hear” since the music industry is heavily saturated with negative imagery. I also struggle with social anxiety and imposter syndrome, which make being a public figure a lot more challenging than it should be. I’ve grown a lot throughout my journey, but I still have a long way to go. Between raising my son, living life, and trying to earn a living in our capitalistic society, I struggle to find the time to constantly create content and get it to those who may need or appreciate it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make music, have a clothing line that I use as an instrument of activism, and create art in multiple mediums (tattoo, painting, digital media, video creation, etc.). Still, overall I’m most known for my music and clothing. What makes me proud is also what sets me apart from many: how I use my artistry to try and deliver a different message than the mainstream media or those who try and imitate the mainstream media.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
Risks are important in life; if you always play it safe, you will be stuck wondering how things could’ve gone if you did things differently or told yourself yes when the world told you no. Risk-takers make the world go round.
