Community Highlights: Meet Sheetal Ajmani of Radiant Living Institute

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheetal Ajmani.

Hi Sheetal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
As a physician, I always knew there was a place for Western and Eastern modalities of healing and wellness. I discovered yoga and Ayurveda in my first year of medical school and knew immediately that I wanted to dive deeper into these topics. After graduating from medical school and completing my pediatric residency, I went on to complete a 500-hour yoga teacher certification and a 300-hour Ayurveda consultant program.

Over the past 2 decades, personally and professionally, these modalities of well-being have helped me navigate the various ups and downs, challenges, and stressors of life. Knowing firsthand how good it feels when you start to integrate these practices into your daily life, as well as the science behind how these practices actually affect your physiology in a positive way, drives my desire to share these powerful tools with others.

What started out as teaching yoga classes out of my parent’s basement has since evolved to what now exists as Radiant Living Institute, where I guide people to get unstuck and live radiantly again using a method that draws from yoga, ayurveda, mindfulness, mindset, positive psychology, and modern science. My podcast, Essential Self-Care, offers practical tools and inspiration for practicing self-care, especially for those of us with the busiest of schedules.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The journey of following my passion to create a business of impact has had its share of ups and downs, both personally and professionally.

Navigating my business from side hustle to main gig, through career burnout, divorce, and chronic pain, I’ve felt like I’ve had to start over a million times. It’s felt frustrating beyond belief and I can’t tell you how often I’ve thought about giving up!

But, here’s the thing…

Each time that I felt like giving up, my inner voice would guide me to take a break but not quit altogether. The Universe would send me a message, often through an email or text from a current or past client, reminding me of the impact that my programs have on people’s lives.

From helping people reconnect to their worth and self-confidence, to helping them find joy again, to leaving toxic relationships and creating new healthy boundaries, to overcoming physical ailments and to finally finding a sense of peace and calm that they’ve never felt before, my clients’ results constantly remind me of how powerful and needed this work is.

Each time that I felt like I was starting over from square one, I knew that I was a little wiser and more experienced than before. My trials and tribulations became the lessons through which I was able to practice all the self-care tools that I now share in my programs.

We’ve been impressed with Radiant Living Institute, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Radiant Living Institute guides people to get unstuck and live radiantly again. The word “radiant” means to glow from the inside out. It all starts from within. Through classes, coaching, and online programs, my offerings guide you to cultivate a more kind, loving, and nurturing relationship with yourself, as this is the foundation for how you ultimately show up in the world for your family, friends, career, and community. My podcast, Essential Self-Care, offers practical tools and inspiration for practicing self-care, especially for those of us with the busiest of schedules.

My approach is unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. My programs draw from yoga, meditation, mindfulness, ayurveda, mindset, positive psychology, personal development, coaching, and modern science. This combination of time-tested and evidence-backed modalities allows for the customization of my programs to the individuals and groups I work with. This is not a “one-size-fits-all” approach to self-care; rather, every individual is unique and so your self-care should be uniquely tailored to your needs and lifestyle as well.

Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Reach out to those who inspire you. In general, people want to help and support each other. They want to share the lessons they learned along the way to save you the time and hardship of figuring it out on your own.

You might not hear back from some (or many!) of the people you reach out to. That’s ok. Don’t take it personally.

Just keep finding other people who inspire you to connect with them.

Through the process, you’ll likely meet a lot of interesting people, many of whom may turn into mentors, collaborators, and friends.
