Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerri Barnes.
Hi Kerri, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have a wonderful family. I am a working professional with a Bachelor of Criminal Justice and Master of Organizational Leadership. My work life is in government and is very structured.
I started collecting crystals in 2016. In 2017, I recognized that my collection had become too large and I wanted to downsize. I participated in a vending event in the summer of 2017 and it was so successful, I decided to try and start a business. I really focused my mission on high-quality crystals at reasonable prices. I have extensive customer service in my work experience and I wanted to have that be a trademark of my business. I focus on my customer’s needs and proactively find items they will like.
In June 2018, I got my LLC and started operating as Crystal Intuition Az. At first, I was only on Facebook and Instagram selling in groups and on my posts. In December 2020, I launched my own website. I have also recently expanded to TikTok as another social media platform. I primarily run my business, however, I have had strong support from my family and dear friends who help me with in-person vending events and other support when needed. I have expanded my products to include incense, witch bottles, sterling silver jewelry, and other items over the years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was a big learning curve to start my own business. I also started it at the same time as pursuing my Master’s Degree. I never had any kind of marketing training and really use my intuition and what I think would appeal to me as a customer. I have received help from folks in my social media seller groups along the way for guidance as well.
I try to stay on top of trends and continue to attract my target audience. With the changing algorithms in social media, it has been challenging to expand my reach. I also work a full-time job, so I can’t dedicate 100% of my time to this. However, it does provide a creative outlet for me and I have met some amazing people.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am relationship oriented and build rapport with people pretty quickly, My side business is focused on helping people manifest the right energy in their lives. My returning customers are like family to me. I have live shows on a regular basis and even though I am selling a product, I really try to engage with them and see how they are doing. I have a strong customer base who regularly follow me and support my business.
How do you define success?
I feel that success is an ever-moving target. Success to me is the achievement of specific goals in your life. I always add new goals once others are achieved, so it’s a continuous cycle for me.
