Today we’d like to introduce you to Pooja Bhatt.
Hi Pooja, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Hello, I am South Asian by birth. I was born in Mumbai, India & then a few years ago. I moved to the USA. I traveled to different places (Dubai, Thailand, Asia), being my passion for events & destination weddings, where I learned everything I know and celebrated about my culture. During this time, I had just finished my master’s in the event industry & had finished my graduation, In the middle of this Journey. I met the love of life and fell in love with a soulmate with an equal passion for Events like mine, so we found a perfect pair & got married & flew to the USA with the same Dream. So coming here, there was born our event firm, “The Event Palette LLC,” was born here.
With over 12 years of international experience in weddings and event planning, management started in India, Mumbai, under Red 7 Themes & Varsh Decor Events. Being Born in India, I have circled Indian Festivals rituals & grand scale colorful weddings, so slowly & gradually, we both started loving this wedding space and decor & for even each small or bigger event. We would love to cater to our clients & turn their dream weddings or events crafting into memorable stories for their lifetime coming from the Indian Wedding experience. And knowing that there was a need for Indian planners that would cater to a broader group of clients, a mixed group of Indian & Western Weddings. We are both working professionals, so this was supposed to be something we enjoyed doing on occasion over the weekends. We have planned and coordinated multiple events over the years. In the process, we met and interacted with amazing clients and vendors. I have learned that being passionate about what you do, working hard, and respecting other vendors and their work will be the key to your success in this industry. I hope to continue working with my amazing clients. We love taking care of designing, decorating, managing, and executing all aspects of both indoor and outdoor weddings, events, and special occasions, leaving you to enjoy the day free of meddlesome worries. We strive hard for those happy smiles. That’s THE EVENT PALETTE!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have not had the smoothest transition in my career, but it’s coming together. I went from several years of just going & exploring the events & not getting paid; starting from India in a new country, everything from scratch is a big hurdle. It’s been tough to have an infrequent income, work on freelance gigs every weekend, and pick up other odd jobs. You have to invest a lot of time and money into your business at the beginning, from taking educational courses to setting up content shoots for yourself to website building and other marketing subscriptions. I was capable of building something for myself before, so why can’t I do it now too? I have more knowledge and experience now than when I started working as an adult, so I am using my ambition and drive to succeed to spin my obstacles into benefits! When I got the very first project from a close relative, they had high hopes assuming my creative talents in event space; they gave me an Event & that day. I realized I needed to prove my best at the end of the successful event. I was proud of myself for pulling it off and getting compliments on my work as a result! With that experience, I realized I could do more than I expected from myself. From there, I started taking each & every event as a challenge & prove THE EVENT PALETTE as the best team ever.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
My background is in creative designing + project management. My passion is that I love to travel, explore, taking beautiful pictures & videos. Also, I love to do video edits on FCP Mac, where a professional team would hire me for same-day edits for grand-scale weddings. I love to create custom weddings backdrop. If a client shows a photo from Pinterest, I would love to explore the market & make sure I create & design the same Pinterest picture for their event, or it may be much better. So I love being creative, going & looking at what’s a new trend going on & presenting that to our clients to stand out differently with their weddings. With everything I do, I long to encourage others, create beautiful things, + love people, all while celebrating life’s milestones. We are strong believers that there is priceless beauty in gathering with those in your community. This is why we love our job. We are passionate about capturing our client’s special moments by turning them into beautiful celebrations, a reality they will treasure.
So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
Just simple – happy smiles on each & every client I work for. I would strive hard to get those happy smiles & make them satisfied with our utmost creativity & teamwork dedication.
