Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Burrous.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a teenager, I became interested in Eastern philosophy. I was searching for spiritual answers. I read books from many religions and philosophers, as well as many novelists. I decided I wanted to be among them and began a journey within.
I decided at 17 years old that my life was divine and I am on a path to understanding what that meant. I was unsatisfied with the status quo and wanted to take a deeper plunge into the meaning of things. I realized quickly that I needed a job that aligned with my quest.
I decided to save up and began massage training in 2001. I figured by understanding the human body and connecting with a healing, altruistic energy I wouldn’t sway from my path of enlightenment. After a few years of practice, I realized my ability to help people was very limited.
Massage is a multilayered practice, yet I didn’t have enough answers that I wanted to have for my people. In 2008, after finishing my Associate of Arts, I began Acupuncture school. I was thrilled to be learning something so ancient, lasting, and bonafide. It was very very difficult to learn, I had to undo most of my thought processes to accept an entirely different way of looking at things. It was expanding and fantastic! I entered school with many deficiencies such as feeling intensely anxious at times, random stomach and digestive issues, as well as menstrual pain that would take me down and to the hospital.
By the end of school, I learned to love and appreciate the depth of herbal medicine passed down from the Chinese, their study of plants, and their understanding of the workings of nature through the Tao. It’s vast and wonderful. Through the mentorship of particular teachers, I found profound and lasting healing for what ailed me. I saw how so many people can get help without having to have a severe illness that requires medication or surgery. We all get out there at different times of our lives emotionally or have pain or random illness that shrieks a doomsday narrative.
That can easily move through us and heal with this plant medicine and with these needles. Through dietary and lifestyle advice, from one who understands Traditional Chinese Medicine. My path to business hasn’t been easy and has been the hardest work of my life. But after working for others for many years I knew that I needed to focus on my dream of owning my own clinic and presenting this medicine the way I think it deserves. I started Oasis Women’s Clinic in Phoenix Arizona 2018.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a collective, going through this pandemic has been a struggle for all of us. I opened the clinic about a year before the pandemic. I never closed… I wasn’t seeing a lot of patients back then, and they all wanted to keep coming. I was able to treat people for a variety of things that they couldn’t see a western doc for because it was “non-essential.”
Because this medicine is such a gift and I have a passion and adoration for it I kept to the path and I stayed open. Many wins occurred in the clinic and the love and hope that was there in my patients made the struggle worth it. I had dedicated my life to this path there was no way I was going to give it up.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Oasis Women’s Clinic?
Oasis Women’s Clinic is a health care hub to get healing with natural medicine. I specialize in treating gynecological disorders such as period pain, endometriosis pain, fibroids, ovarian cysts, elongated bleeding, heavy bleeding, PCOS, anxiety, PMDD, and so on.
But I am also a general practice and treat just about anything such as digestive issues, insomnia, male infertility, allergies, headaches. What set’s my clinic apart is that I have a full herbal dispensary at hand, making the medicine I practice more profound and life-changing for chronic disorders. I do not merely poke needles, I also am practicing internal medicine.
We offer a free consultation and keep our fees very reasonable. If you are looking to heal your body for the long term and change your life, or are looking to find answers your western doc isn’t able to provide, this is the place for you.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I think the most surprising thing about me is that I have been an actress and I also love to play the drum set.
