Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Schreihans.
Hi Barbara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I grew up really poor. Like my parents were arrested for stealing groceries. We spent our weekends collecting soda cans so that we could make a couple of dollars at the recycling center – poor. From a young age, I knew my life was meant for more after seeing the struggles my family went through – never having money, bankruptcies, foreclosures, you-name-it we went through it. I wasn’t meant for a poor, mediocre life and I was always fascinated by money and numbers.
I went to business school at Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo and went on to get my Masters of Science in Taxation. After getting a job offer at the most prestigious accounting firm in the world, I again had that feeling of ‘meant for more’ – I wanted to have more of an impact on our clients. After working at accounting firms of all sizes, I still had that feeling of ‘there has to be a better way.
So, I created our tax strategy firm, Your Tax Coach which solely focuses on savings business owners money in taxes. Our remote Tax Strategy firm grew from nothing to seven figures in thirteen months. It took sixteen months to become a multiple-seven figure firm.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. The most important thing I had to work on was my own personal development. A big part of that was my “Money Mindset.” I had to rewrite all of the self-limiting lies I was telling myself about not being good enough or worthy enough or whatever enough.
I love the saying, ‘Get comfortable with the uncomfortable.’ There is always a new level and a new self-limiting belief to breakthrough in entrepreneurship. New struggles are always popping up but there is solace in knowing that I’m not alone in my problems and that if I wasn’t uncomfortable, then I’m not dreaming big enough.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories were going to visit my grandparents every summer. I got to escape the franticness of my home and be in a calm, supportive, and abundant house. I also loved being able to walk into Nordstrom with my grandmother. My love for shopping definitely came from her.
